Hey Adam,
I haven't been able to get confirmation that the K-S2 can use a cable release. If it did, that would be awesome!
Most of the cameras you listed have the shutter release on the right side of the camera. She cannot use her right arm so triggering the shutter will be a challenge. I've been looking at articulating arms that can mount to her wheelchair. Having the camera stabilized will help her use her left hand to zoom and trip the shutter.
Thanks!

The Q supports the Remote Control F but it must be 5 cm from the back of the camera.
She will be in a wheelchair while shooting. It's too much to ask her to balance and shoot using a monopod.

Hey Folks,
I have a friend who, like me, is an avid Pentax shooter. Unfortunately, she experienced several massive strokes that have impaired language and mobility. She has lost the use of her right arm and when she walks, she must use a cane with her left arm. She would like to return to going out shooting and we're exploring ways to help her do that.
At her disposal, she has a Pentax K-S2, Q w/ 02 zoom, and a bevy of K & M body film SLRs. For now, we're thinking of starting off with the Q. We're thinking of mounting it on a pistol grip or flash bracket and having the remote control F (wireless) mounted to the grip so that she can hold and shoot at the same time.
Do you all anticipate any problems with this setup? My main concern is how well she will be able to trip the shutter. Anyone used the remote control F? Can it be used from behind the camera?
Another thought is to get a clamp with a flexible arm that can be mounted to the arm of her wheelchair. Has anyone tried something like this?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I took this during the Ice Storm in Dallas/Fort Worth in December. It was shot with a ME Super M50/1.7 on Tri-X.

Hey Folks,
Have you all noticed this lens is out of stock in the US? It's a special order item from the Pentax web store. The Amazon and eBay sellers are all from Japan. B&H doesn't even list it. What gives?

So if I understand you correctly, the displayed firmware in the menu system changes dependent on the lens that's mounted?

Scott,
I updated the body to 1.13 but am not familiar with updating the lens. Where can I find info about that?
In terms of batteries, my plan was to get the Wasabi charger with 2 batteries from amazon. My buddy who has the Q uses that set up and is pleased.
Thanks for all the welcomes everyone!

That would be a great deal. The only way I could match that is to find a used 01 at $100.

I bought the kit with the 02 zoom. I had considered purchasing the kit with the 01 prime but thought this made little financial sense. B&H is selling the white Q with 02 zoom for $249. New, the 02 zoom sells for ~$300 on its own whereas the 01 prime sells for ~$200. My plan is to order the 06 zoom first, then add the 01 prime. Also, I will get the Fotodiox Q-K adapter.

Hey Folks,
After many years away from shooting with a digital camera, I'm back in the mix. I've been using Pentax film cameras for quite a while and even participated on PDML (even back when Pentax sponsored it). At one point, I had a Pentax *istDS but it died after 4 years. Since then, I've been shooting my ME Super and PZ-20 exclusively. At the prompting of a PDML buddy, I took a hard look at the Q. The prices at B&H were too hard to resist. The white one arrived yesterday.
So, I just thought I'd drop in and say Hi. I like the activity on this and I'll be posting pics from time to time.
