As my bio says, I was a photographer once, and young. :)
In my high school and college yearbooks, there are a few photos of mine of which I am immensely proud. Alas, I never felt good enough in later years to continue burning film and dollars. I got back into photography with an early model Panasonic/Leica digital, and enjoyed it quite much. A few other p&s cameras later and I began to long for the power of the SLR. Having sworn off Canon for their unpardonable abandonment of the FD mount (of which I had many lenses) I recalled that back in the day Pentax really was the optical formula to beat. So, I found a *istDL at the local Penn Camera, and have been having a blast ever since.
I joined specifically to be a buyer in the market place, but reading the reviews and seeing the wonderful examples posted makes me think I will learn as much here as on photo.net if not more.
