I like these photos. I had started a real internet storm on another site asking about my photos. The conclusion was that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I say, if you like them, then keep doing it. I really like these two photos, and its my impression that a lot of photographers who are quick to criticise are not artists. I think based on these photos that you are an artist. Keep up the good work.

I bought my used (2nd) K10 from them. I was very happy with the price and condition of the camera.

I'm left-handed and left-eyed, however, I do many things with my right hand, such as control the PC mouse and unlock doors (go figure!). Theoretically, we lefties are supposed to be more creative and artistic. A true leftie writes with the left hand and when writing, positions the hand the same as the right-handed ones (only in the left hand. duh.). If you see someone using the left hand but uses a crabbed almost upside-down hold on the pen, that one is not a true right-brained/left-handed person, but rather left-brained/left-handed person and thinks like a right-handed person. Watch President Obama; that's how he writes. All the recent US presidents were lefties, but I didn't pay attention to how they hold their pens.
Back to the camera, I shoot left-eyed and dial the controls and shoot with my right hand. I've tried using my right eye, but it feels un-natural. Hopefully, I'm more artistic!

Hey!
Pentax is known in Europe. I saw ads for Pentax in the local Kristiansand, Norway newspaper in '09, and in Belgium last year a young man used mine to take my photo (yeah, it was the FIRST time I ever let anyone do that) and he said, "Oh, Pentax!." And nurses in the USA and Norway recognize Pentax from scopes used in the operating rooms.
I'm proud to shoot Pentax. Just bought a used K10d to go with the K10d I already have.

Hi Aaron,
I have the Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro and I love it. I use it a lot at home for the garden flower macros and in the house to photograph "things." Use the manual mode and a tripod. If you leave the aperature large to get the narrow depth of field you can get some awesome images, like the edge of a flower petal or detail on a piece of jewelry. Use a smaller aperature to get in more of the subject, like all of the flower instead of just a petal edge.
Also, you will find that if you try the automatic focus, while it hunts it is burning up your battery charge. When you see what you what to photograph, you can use the automatic at first, just to tell you where the general area of focus is. Then put it in manual and fine tune it yourself.
I tell you, this lens opened up a whole new world for me. Have fun!

Hey mba1971 !
Welcome to the forums. I too looked at other cameras, and when I finally found a dealer who sold Pentax, and I held it in my hands - it felt great in my hands. The others didn't feel right at all. I have not regretted my choice.
And don't worry about the English. Glad to have you, these are a wonderful bunch of photographers who have helped me out several times.

Hello!
I'm in Minnesota too. No floods here but we will get hit by the snowstorm tomorrow. I was out looking for a photo opportunity today; I enjoyed the sunshine. Soon we will have many wonderful photo opportunities outdoors here in Minnesota. I hope you enjoy your new camera. Welcome to the forum.

Jeffrey,
Very nice indeed! I grow African violets, and they are difficult for me to take good photos of. The blue-violet ones in particular give me a hard time getting the color correct. And now the darn things are dying, so I don't have many chances left to practice!

Hello Katharina,
Welcome to the forum. I wish I could have started taking photos (and with such a great camera) at your age. Lucky you! You have a whole lifetime ahead of you to have fun taking photos.

Well, guys, like denisv said, "why not just use the cable?" That's what I'm going to do. It works for me. I guess I just feel like I'm going in the backdoor doing that way.
Thanks a million for the help.

Hello,
You guys are SO good! I tell my friends that "the guys" at the Pentax Forum are helping me.
The 4g and the 2g are both giving me trouble. I just switched from Windows XP to Vista (my present to myself for double-time shifts). I can't try the 4g on the Vista because I sent it back to Fargo with my daughter to Ritz Camera before I asked you "guys" what to do.
I got the photos to transfer using the cable. I'm thinking that at some point I should let a camera repair shop look at it. I just can't bear to let it out of my hands for a while. I actually have nightmares of someone losing my camera and my SCREAMING at them.

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for rapid replies and good advice. I decided to reformat before I even thought things through - consequently losing ALL my images. (It's not so bad though; they were only outdoors scenes that can be taken again.) The memory stick really doesn't work in the PC, sigh.
The USB cable was mentioned and I didn't even remember having one. A couple of test shots, a search through two closets to find the cable, and a run-through shows those photos are there and can be transferred to the PC using this method.
My IT tech also says that anything over the 2g is sometimes hard to read.
Don't you think I should still have the camera checked out to make things right?:)

Please help. I bought a 4g sandisk III, it took lovely photos but my PC didn't recognize the stick. Then, just now, after taking photos in the freezing cold all morning, I find my old reliable 2 g stick isn't being read either. It's not the PC. The tech tested the PC and now I have a brandnew one to boot. I tried to download the 4g at the drugstore; didn't read it. Something is wrong with the camera. What do I do now? Oh dear, oh dear.

The red is an oriental lily, the white a petunia and the yellow is a calla lily. I don't know what the last one is. Nice photos. I tried to take photos of a white calla lily this summer and failed miserably. You did it! Very nice indeed.

Hei Svein,
Welcome to the forum. You sound like you enjoy life and photography.
I'm new to photography; still shoot in what I call "stupid idiot mode." But I LOVE taking photos, love looking at them. Right now I'm shopping for a new lens and supplies to take on a trip to Norway next summer! I'll be visiting my cousins in Vest Agdar and Telemark. I am SO excited and plan to take many photos.
I look forward to seeing some of your photos.

Hey! the photos are very nice.
I love flowers and take a lot of photos in my garden, too. The third flower is a clematis.
What lens did you use? I have only the kit lens and an FA 50mm 1.4. Neither one are terrific for close-ups of my flowers; I need a good macro lens. Sorry to say, my Sony Cybershot P&S does better on macros; it gives much clearer and sharper photos.
Keep up the good work. Irene Sophie:)
