DA 35mm f2.4 for sure. With the super zoom you will not get different results the gear you already have. I start with Sigma 18-200 and gave it to my brother. DA 18-135 WR has better optics and you can keep it if you upgrade in to a future to a weather sealed body. My most used lens are DA 35mm f2.4, FA 50mm f1.4 and my 18-135 DA

Jajaja(lol)
I did the same thing replaicing my Sigma 18-200mm when my K-5II came with a 18-135m as a kit. The Pentax is greatly better lens than the Sigma. No more halo around subjects.

For what īre you interested(photography and video) K-x have only one problem: AA batteries. Thatīs because the canīt run to much time and drains rapiddly than a lithium one, on Lv mode and obviously on video mode.
For everything else you can do with a dslr, the problem is you, with all respect. Film cameras was more easy to learn because the 3 crucial control are simple to identify; aperture, shutter speed and ASA(ISO). On DSLR you can get lost on menus and buttons. Maybe a fast 50mm f1.8 lens could helps you to understand the "mechanic" of photography, as it can render more clearly the concecuences of setting any one of those 3 parameters.

My K-r suffered something similar time ago. I thought my eyepiece were scratch or something, and I tried to clean it without succes till suddenly it was clear, days after. my conclusion was that the eyepiece was never scratched or dirty, but was affected by condensation , maybe when i left the camera in the car or on a cool room and took it to a warmer place, inside air produced condensation. Abrupt temperature changes on DSLRs produce condensation of internal air gaps like inside eyepiece or mirrorboxes. Leave your camera on a place with stable temperature-humidity ambient with silica, and wait if it get better. Avoid an extensive touch or handling of your eyepiece.

Is lens matter. my Sigma 18-200mm DC also struggles to focus on low light at long focal lenght. I believe itīs min f6.3 aperture fault. Try to focus on contrasts objects near to your target. or use it on manual.

I have the same doubt on K-5II vs K-50
Iīm not worry about not having 14bit of DR or big buffer, but the advantage K-50(30) Focus peaking ability, for legacy lenses usability, have me on hesitation. I lost to much not geting K-5(something) intead of K-50(30)?

You need good(better) glass to extract camera potential.
As a K-r owner for 2 and a half1/2 years I recommend you to keep yours and go for a winner cheap bet without risk:DA 2.4/35. Coming from the kit youīll see another world after this lens. Similar as the quality of your SMC-m 1.7/50. I use mine almost anywhere and some times I replace it with my 55-300mm(lovely) zoom and my FA 1.4/50, my last adorated prime. Then, IMHO, you could say that you need a newer DSLR.
I spect to replace my K-r when the not launched yet K-5II(s) replacement get it price down, maybe in 1 year from now.

So, there was me at the roof of my office with my Q+06 when at the distance I discover a humble photoshot session at the top of an old water tank on a distant building. Well, thanks to them I did my first free photoshot session, with a proper model.. or so.

You can extend life of your K-r using the AAs adapter( original or alternative). It works really good with rechargebles AAs, with no flops atall and even more accurate IMO. Try to get 2 packs of 2500mas and above. I use my original lithiums just for emergengy meanwhile I save for stepup Pentax DSLR. Not decidedje , like you, if the K-30 or the K-5II(s).

Focuse peaking and my brand new fotodiox adpater from K to Q mount with aperture ring came fortunately in the same at day. Today I can made a test comparing the Q 01 Prime and the DA 35mm f2.4 AL with the adapter.
This was the results using the same setting and apertures and no PP. I just crop to 100% on the 01 Prime to compare the same frame.
Q + K adapter + DA 35mm f2.4 AL (195mm on 35mm) using focuse peaking. The first is with the 2.4/35 the second with the Prime 01 and the third is the second cropped to 100%.

I have the 70-210mm 2.8-4 Komine and the smc-K 2.5/135 and both feels and perform very different. The first it's sharp with flat(true) colours, but the Pentax 's may reproduce punchy colours with more contrast and better CA/Purple fringing performance. On simple words the Vivitar have an oldie sensation on it pictures.
