Thanks for the detailed answer. I've had this camera for 3 months and not changed the lens since i got it. Weird that it got so many artifacts. Will try all the mentioned methods!

Attaching an image I took last night. Didn't have a tripod and was out of focus. But the artifacts are worrisome. It's a newish Sigma lens and new K30 DSLR. Don't see any particles on either on visual inspection. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the feedback guys.. I took about 4-5 pics.. 2 came out as sharp as this one.. was underexposing a bit since have been reading understanding exposure.. and it was suggested to use lower exposure with green..

This was another where subject came out sharp (but he was too far away...) ;)

Took this picture at a local festival. Had to underexpose a bit to get the sky better... but everything else is too dark i think.. I'm just getting into playing with my DSLR ... any tips would be helpful.. like how this one shd have been metered etc.. the sun was right behind me.. it was a very sunny day..

I'm new to the forums.. was thinking about buying a SMC Pentax-M 1:1.7 50mm lens from ebay for portraits and street photography. My camera is K-x. Wondering if I'll need a converter to use this lens? Also, do you suggest using a different lens (maybe a more expensive AF?).. Thx!
