A Tamron 135mm 2.8 with an M42 mount, swaped out for a K mount I have spare. Then all for the Nikons; 35 1.8 g, Tamron 18-270 and a Sigma 10-20.

A Sony A290 came up when I was mindlessly looking at Ebay, great price with the kit lens so its on the way. Said kit lens will most likely go back on the auction site as I am not a big fan of 18-55 lenses having only kept the one with the K50 as it is also white and weather sealed so the combo can be used in bad weather. The 290 is a CCD based camera as far as I can tell the same sensor as in the 380 I have and that produces good files similar in rendition to the 10mp sensor in the K200, K10 and Nikon D60,80,200 cameras.

A Sigma 28-300mm in K mount, am a big fan of super zooms even though they are inherently compromised but I think and feel the drive for perfection can be overrated but mainly they are very convenient.

Not a camera or a lens, not a photographic thing but something that will help facilitate some photographic projects; a VW T4 camper van.

I use all sorts of cameras, they are all enjoyable for me to use, they all do what is required of them phone cameras are not used as the experience for me is not enjoyable. What is good for others is good and having a large choice of tools is always good, to say one is better somewhat misses the point there are more metrics than resolution or sharpness or blur or high iso. A lot of older lenses would measure awfully by modern standards but they have something wonderful that makes them desirable their imperfections add interest.

I got caught on that, has a lot of Canon gear at the time, when someone stole them all in a break in I bought an ME super and one of the earlier AF bodies along with a Contax and 50mm Zeiss.
Any how I think with in 5 years Pentax will be the only SLR maker the others dropping out of the market as it will not have enough stock movement for them. Pentax have already become a more niche player in volume compared to the big 3 so if their manufacturing lines are in step with this then I would say they have a better than most chance of being in business in 2030. Sadly I think Nikon could be the next to fall, they seemed to fall well behind when AF came along and an awful lot of people jumped to the Canon eco system. Now they are trying to compete not with the giant that is Canon but Sony who have a good few years in the FF mirrorless field and a lot more lenses to show for it. The market is shrinking, I hold that any camera from the last few years is good enough but for the most particular uses so people don't want to keep renewing cameras, there was a boom with the uptake of digital. Pentax's statement of intent to keep making SLR's will garner them new users who enjoy the experiance of the pentaprism, they will see a brand that will continue to support them.

Err I got a Sony 380 dirt cheep, I think its the highest resolution APSc CCD Sensor camera at 14mp, there was a Kodak full frame I think was higher. It was a price I could not refuse and I am sure I have a Minolta lens or two some place.

FA 50mm 1.4, Sigma 24mm 2.8, Sony 50mm 1.8, Tamron 70-30 last 3 Sony/Minolta mount. Now looking for a 35mm and around 90mm at a reasonable price and desired primes will be sorted, though a 16 would be good that might entail either a Samsung NX or Sony E mount to facilitate and Im not sure I want to buy either and a VW camper van looking for one of them.

A K200 due to the K10d thread making me fancy a CCD sensor camera and it was a great price, a spare 35-80 Tamron from a charity shop, a Tamron 70-210 as it had the right mount on and I am enjoying using manual focus lenses. Now need to go to Ikea and buy a shed load of batteries.

I think my Mrs has a pair of glasses with Pentax glass, there is also Nikon and Zeiss glass for glasses. AP has always been poor, only worth getting in the pre internet days for the adds at the back. Pentax is now quite well placed to own the small in the future SLR market as Canon have stated they are stopping developing for EF and I would expect Nikon to also. So anyone who wants a SLR will have only Pentax to go for, they will be like Leica with RF cameras it may be a small market but it will remain. Pentax has had imho had a good strategy of not going through rapid product cycles but having more meaningful upgrades, reducing dev costs and giving product time to sell through.

What is wrong with both? Some cameras are quite beautiful things of themselves so on a shelf to look at is fine. People collect fine china plates (my late mother did) but still use plates on a daily basis, so if someone wanted to have a collection of all the 1960's Pentax cameras in a display case but uses only digital it seems perfectly reasonable. Besides those that collect old cameras or other things are saving them for future people to see and enjoy.

So I have bought a K50, the Pentax experiment has worked out having acquired the Tokina 100-300, K-X Pentax kit lens, 28-200 FA and 50mm A also a Tamron 18-200 so thought a second body was an idea. The K50 has though cost me more than the rest combined by a fair bit, it also means I have a second kit lens, will sell one and bonus for me anyhow it is a white one, matches my Panasonic G3. Now its the hunt for the couple of lenses I want to round out the set, 16mp is plenty enough for me.
