This is actually a big requirement for me. It does permit AF fine tuning; You Tube |

i hope it's the same as on K-5.

That's when you need a reliable autofocus the most because of the shallow depth of field.

Thank you for your help everyone. I think I will be switching over to Nikon. I will definitely miss Pentax lenses though.

Yes, you are correct. I was talking about focus hunting, not motion blur.
And yes, I do use centre point autofocus. Even though it helps a bit, recomposing means that the focus will not be spot on. Can I chose a custom focus point in the viewfinder with the K-5?

Hello everybody,
I shoot with a k-x and do a lot of indoors and low light photography, mainly events. I find that my lenses often hunt a lot in low light, even the fast 35/2.4. And most of the time I end up missing the shot which is very frustrating.
I will be upgrading my camera soon, but should I go for the K-5 or is the Nikon's autofocusing system better? I need the camera to quickly grab focus in low light. If I go to Nikon I will either go for the Nikon D7000 or wait for the D400, only buy a couple prime lenses (35 and 50 maybe) and rent high end lenses as I need them.
So will the K-5 auto focus compete with Nikon's autofocus in low light conditions or should I switch to Nikon?
Thanks.

I emailed Pentax last night so I am waiting to hear back from them. One of my lenses was from Aden camera and still under one year, but I bought the FA 50 from kijiji :s

Hello,
I own a k-x and a few lenses (18-55, FA 100-300, Sigma 15/2.8 FE, DA 35/2.4, FA 50/1.4 and DA 70/2.4)
Out of those my 35 and 50 are back focusing. I know I can go into the debug menu and fix the lenses but as far as I understand, it will change the focusing on my other lenses too. My 70/2.4 has spot on focus and I do not want to mess that up.
What are my options? If I send it to Pentax, will they fix the focusing on the specific lenses? Will they charge me anything? Or Should I just buy a new body? Hopefully something with focus adjustments. I really like my k-x though and do not feel like I am ready to move up yet.
Thanks

I am just asking because OP said that his pictures were not clear on the web until he converted them. So I assumed you had to convert them before posting.

Hey guys, I bought a Bower SFD926P for my pentax k-x. It works fine when mounted on my camera, but when I use it as a wireless flash it wont sync 90% of the time. The flash fires all the time but will only sync 1 in 10 times randomly.
Is it because it is a cheap flash? (I can make my peace with that) or is there something I can do to correct this?
Thanks.

This is a noob question but how would I convert an image to sRGB? I do use lightroom, Can I do it in there?

Started reading this thread and almost decided to buy it, then read that it has focusing issues which I wont be able to fix on my k-x :s
I guess its a good thing I do not want to buy it any more because I already have the 35 f/2.4

Damn, I bought this lens use for $550 but got rid of it after trying it for a couple of days because I want the wider Sigma 10-20. Maybe I should have kept it.

I have the 35/2.4 and I LOVE it. It is on my camera 90% of the time. The field of view from a 35 is much better than a 50 for general purpose and its good for portraits too.

^ I replied to your PM, good luck with it.
As for me, I bought a bower for $60 to start off like some of you guys suggested. Its a decent flash but it does not sync properly in the wireless mode. It fires but the pictures come out dark.

Hmmm thanks guys, I might puck up a cheap bower (962 I believe) for now. Because my main purpose right now is to bounce a high power flash. And then maybe add a vivitar 285 later on for off camera. Using the triggers from eBay, will I be able to use bower on camera and the vivitar off camera. I think they both would have to be off camera right? Or maybe I can pick up the bower and the sigma. Well bower it is for now anyways.

Hey guys, I know this question has been asked again and again and I have searched a lot on this topic.
I have a chance to pick up the Sigma 530 super for $190 or the Pentax AF 540 for $260
Now I know many people recommend the sigma because it is significantly cheaper, but in my case the difference is only $70 (which is still a lot for a student) but I am willing to pay the difference if it is worth it.
So my question is, what is the exact difference between the two? and which one should I go for?
Thanks in advance.

I just zoomed in at 24mm and the blades open up completely, I took two more pictures, The first one is at 24mm and the second at 12mm. So I am assuming the lens is okay?
At 24mm: Attachment 91904
At 12mm: Attachment 91905 |

I know the aperture is f/4 and not f/1.4 or f/2.4 but when I open the aperture blades on my da50-200 at 200mm, which is f/5.6 I believe, they still fully open up and I cant see the blades at all.
