Good to know! I'm heading out of Newburyport, MA on a boating excursion this weekend and will be depending on the "WR" of the K7.

I was taking pictures at my daughters graduation ceremony indoors this weekend. Using K-7 with DA 55-300 lens, so that I could try and get some close up shots.
When nobody was moving around too fast the pictures came out half way decent. But, when I was trying to get shots of the graduate walking across the stage(lens set at 300 mm) the shots all came out very blurry. Is this because the lens is rather slow at this focal length or do I just need more practice leading the subject?
Would I have had better results with the camera in movie mode and then making single frames from the video? I did this during a thunder storm recently with pretty good results.
:hmm:

Can anybody direct me to a useful users guide for Pentax PDCU software ? I'm having a heck of a time following the help screens. I don't find them user friendly at all.

I was messing around with my K7 the other night trying to take a picture of the moon. Before I got the exposure correct I kept noticing that the moon was showing up twice on the image.
Is this because there is a UV filter on the lens? I was using a DA 55-300 lens set at 300.
I can't try it with the uv filter off because its been overcast and raining with bad weather forecast for the next several days.

Just received my new K7 yesterday. I proceeded to do initial setup of camera. I attempted to format a disk several times to no avail. Kept getting format failure.
Thinking it was probably a bad disk, I put it in my Optio W90 and formatted it with no problems.
I stuck it back in K7 and re-formatted it and it worked fine.
It appears everything is all right now, but this makes me a little leary.
Anybody else have this type of issue?
The disk is a PNY Optima SDHC 8GB.
It was not in the lock position.

I will without a doubt being purchasing Pentax products for the camera in future. I'm extremely excited about learning digital photography using the K7!

I am totally new to digital SLR photography. I have an old Canon TX film camera with several FD lenses.
I just ordered a Pentax k7 and I am wondering if I will be able to use any of my old lenses with it, or do I have to start with newer lenses.
Appreciate any feedback from the group.
