It's the original (older) version - looks like I have my nomenclature incorrect, will edit the listing. Thanks for catching that.

Last pic from our vacation in Kauai - still processing at the condo on the macbook air, so apologies for any color calibration issues.....
Shot on 645D / 35mm (and yes, the colors on the Rainbow Eucalyptus is for real - they are amazing) |

It's a beast - but in the right conditions, it shines!
My only gripe is that my custom made filter holder was too flimsy.....

As requested, here's another shot from my 645D. This is shot from the 25mm f/4 of a Rainbow Eucalyptus, and is a blend of 3 shots for focus stacking to get sharp focus throughout the frame (the tripod was setup right against the tree trunk). We did get to the canyon, but only took my Sony 5N.
There is some purple fringing on the upper leaves that I'l work to address once I get home... |

Thanks!
We fly home to Seattle on Monday - I think we timed our trip to warm climates perfectly - hopefully the mess will be melted and power restored by Monday night!

On vacation in Kauai right now - I was scouting around the East part of the Island looking for pre-sunrise palm tree silhouette locations. I settled on this spot - and was pleasantly surprised to see a crescent moon was clearly visible in the pre-sunset sky.

Haven't seen very many examples with the new 25mm - and now that I have mine and had a chance to take interesting photos - thought I post a couple of examples.
These are both single exposure examples, using the built in polarizer, and hand holding ND filters (as my homemade adapter broke earlier in the trip). These are both from last night in Bandon, Oregon.
Today the marine layer hung out on the shore, so no photo ops. Hope it clears out before I head back home on Tuesday.

princepollux,
I did not end up having to pay any custom fees. Upon receiving the lens, I did notice that the ebay seller from Taiwan listed the value of the lens significantly less than the purchase price, presumably to avoid said fees.
This wasn't disclosed in advance, and presumably involves some level of risk. Although that risk may still be less than your state's sales tax. Good luck with acquiring this lens!

In case anyone is interested in buying from that eBay buyer - I bought a 25mm from them 2 weeks ago (and $400 less then the price they have listed). It took 11 days from payment for it to arrive, and it's in great shape.

Hark,
I picked up the Leica D2, and I'm very pleased with the ease of use. Fortunately for me, I rarely shoot in bright light.
I did a quick test with the nearest focus point 2 feet and the furthest at infinity (6 shots total). I went ahead on download the Helicon's Focus 30 day trial, and it came out fantastic. I still need to make a guide with focus points marked, and I really like your idea of the mirror to quickly and easily make the focus adjustments.
Now I just need the 25mm to become available.....

Hark,
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide such a detailed response. I appreciate you sharing your approach. I hadn't thought of a laser distance meter. I'll dive into your suggestions and see how it works for me.
Thanks again.

Harklee,
You have mentioned focus stacking in the past - do you mind sharing your workflow when you incorporate focus stacking?
I'm just getting started in working with it, and appreciate any insight.
Thanks!

I happened to buy the Pro before I realized they upgraded all their cards to have direct mode. It's direct mode that let's it act as a hot spot, which according to this chart, all of the cards they sell now have it. Eye-Fi wireless memory card comparison chart | Eye-Fi

I was referring to Kuau's observation that on both of his copies, he couldn't get good results for landscapes, even stopped down to f/13. I'm getting best results past that - at f/16.
It's a great point that for those of us new to MF, many of the old 35mm rules shift, including the point at which diffraction is a real problem.
Thanks.
