I decided over Christmas to buy a used K-5
Unfortunately the weather has been dreadful since it arrived
Today, that gorgeous low winter sun streamed across the garden…time to play!!
I’ve fitted a old 50mm F onto the K5 (75mm) decided to mount a 28-135is onto my 6d
Set the zoom to approximately 70mm
Both cameras were set to jpegs 5.6 iso 400
Only took 3 shots on each and went back inside to view on the laptop…
Oh My…
I honestly didn’t doubt the K-5, thought the old 50 would be grim…lol
Comparing shots on my laptop I’m shocked just how bloody amazing the K-5 did.
Obviously the 6D is full frame, but paired with a zoom whereas the K-5 is crop but paired to a prime
I think I’ll be using the K-5 a lot more.
I’m so used to canon interface, been a canon user for over 30yrs
Yet, I’ve spent less than 1hour on the K-5 and already I can see I prefer it more.
I’ll try to upload the few images I took, I’m not tech savvy and son has removed my email account to use his whilst at school. I’m not sure how to revert it back??
In the meantime, I’m going out. With the K-5, love my 6d, but I’d like to spend a little more time time with the Pentax, there’s definitely something about it that feels nice and reminds me of photography back in the analogue era.

Enjoy your new camera, my wife uses a Canon and I recently picked it up and after years of using Pentax cameras it just felt awkward in my hands, perhaps it is like a favoured chair that just fits some people better than others. I am sure that you will have years of pleasure using it on your travels

My K1 mark 1 arrived couple of days ago.
In the past 8 years i shoot mostly 90% landscape nature photos,i've owned Canon 70d,Canon 6d,Canon EOS R,Nikon d750 and Nikon d7200.
I must be honest,Pentax K1 is the best camera i've ever used and the image quality is amazing...colors,tonal range, dynamic range...exceptional !It is a dream for Landscape photographers and for people who care about true image quality and natural editing photography !
The body itself does not feel big to me at all...its very ergonomic and easy to use,i thought passing from Eos R to Pentax K1 the body will kill me,but not at all...I prefer the K1 body actually.
About the lenses, was big fear for me...but i ended up with second hand Tamron 28-105 (simply amazing cheap, light and very sharp lens) and Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro (again very sharp, cheap and light lens)...could not be more happy than that, they deliver amazing image quality for landscape work if stopped little bit down on this 36 mega pixel sensor.I have plan to buy soon some super wide Irix 15mm or Sigma 12-24...and i am done.
I know its nothing new,but i just wanted to share my thoughts :)
