Hey Wayne,

Thanks for the reply ! I have had my K 5 for 3 weeks and it has done it twice. So lots of brackets in between the times it has happened. The only pain is having to re enter favorite settings etc.

No big drama yet LOL.

cheers

Hi all,

Loving my K 5 ! One issue I have had twice. I use bracketing for HDR, 5 images. I also use the 12 sec timer when doing this. The camera beeps for 12 secs and takes the bracketed shots. The issue is i set up for this as normal, instead of 12 seconds then five shots, it beeps and delays each frame for 12 secs one after another.

I have had to reset the camera twice to original settings to get it to behave as it should. Any ideas on this one?

cheers

Hey Nicole,

I have bought 3 camera's grey. No issues so far:D yes there are reported issues with the K 5, how widespread they are we don't yet know. I was sitting on the fence between a D7000 or a K 5 for 6-8 months. The issues with the K 5 worried me, but after reading reports of issues with the d7000 it came down to what camera had the features I wanted. I know my K5 is working great at the moment, it may develop a fault in the future it may not. I decided not to worry over what may or may not happen, buy it and enjoy it. It took me some saving to get mine so I know, why it makes you nervous, but no product is ever perfect.

Hi Rupert,

The most used program for processing HDR's is photomatix, but there are quite a few available. I like enfuse, which I use as a lightroom plugin but can be used stand alone ( like photomatix as well ) Enfuse uses fusion blending to combine the set of images to give a more natural look. I also have used HDR Efex pro, this is a lightroom plugin as well and gives you a look like photomatix as it uses tone mapping to combine images. Photomatix can do fusion blending as well, but I find enfuse to be cleaner. It all depends on the look you are after, there is no right or wrong, just personal preference.

As for workflow, I capture my 3-5 images, import to lightroom, do my basic adjustments, lens correction, white balance etc, then sync the setting to all images, then export to what ever HDr program I want to use, I will then import back to lightroom for further adjustments. Hope this helps !

cheers

What would you consider a "good price" for a used K-5?

Hi Nicole,

I just purchased a grey import K5. I was not charged gst. You don't pay import charges anyway. I popped into a local store in Australia and checked out a K5 they wanted $1799 body only. I payed $1119 plus $41 delivery in 3 days.

I was a little put off by the reports of various issues but every camera has those. The K5 is awesome, so many fantastic features. If you need advice on buying one grey let me know.

cheers

Hey all,

Had my first chance today to hold a K5. Amazing ! The weight feels just right, the size is perfect and it feels like a solid peice of pro gear. I tried holding the D7000 as well, it was a little larger and felt solid, but ergonomically didn't feel right for me, buttons felt positioned in the wrong places for my hands. yet, when I held the K5 it fit like a glove, your hands seem to automatically designed to sit where they are comfortable and all the buttons are where you feel they should be. So needless to say I came home and ordered one !

Was interesting the sales guy was trying his hardest to steer me to the D7000, explaining the specials available with nikon gear, bag and tripod included etc. For me, the K5 felt like a well designed camera and impressive to say the least in the build quality.
