Hi guys, it's that time of year again and the double threat of a December baby + Christmas looms around the corner. Last year, I was able to get an excellent K20d from one of you guys for her and she loves it! I only got her a 50mm prime and a standard zoom, and she's been saying she'd like something a little longer. So, I've been looking for any sort of autofocus zoom of 50-200 or 50-300 or anything in that sort of range. I really also want to build a PC with her so she can do her own PP and learn all of those fun things, so depending on how much the lens costs I can probably build her a better computer or even try and get her a laptop or something.
I'm on a bit of a budget so I'm open to any sort of lens, even the DA kit lenses or the F if anyone has one floating around. I'm also open to any normal and long zoom pairs if you have any. I gave her a knock-around normal zoom as she has had a habit of breaking/losing things and I wanted to make sure she was responsible enough first before I gave her anything I'd be bothered with her losing... Thanks for the help guys!

Hey, always enjoyed your tutorials, and I think you'd do well teaching a group. The pricing seems reasonable, and as others have mentioned, many others do charged more. Since this will be your first experience in doing this, I think they'd be helping you out as much as you are helping them. One suggestion I would make is looking up different pedagogical styles or theories as you craft your curriculum. It is all, of course, theory, so don't feel that you have to stick to it 100%.
One thing that I think might work with your setting is if you adopt a flipped-classroom method. You would record/write up lessons of what you would teach in class and have students review that at home and complete assignments. They would then bring in the completed assignments to go over with you in class. The theory here is that you would be able to provide assistance to the students where they need it most, and they do the "lecture" portion of the class at home. It kinda gives you a better idea of where all of your students are at, and where the problem areas are or where they are doing particularly well.
And, no, this is definitely not a waste of your time. Even if you feel amateurish or feel a bit lost with what you're doing, once you find your groove, you'll find that you actually know a great deal and your knowledge will benefit your students immensely. Best of luck!

Hey everyone. I'll be shipping off to China in about a week or so, and I'd like to take something a bit more portable than a full on dSLR since packing space will be an issue. I've already dropped a few hundred on teaching supplies/travel supplies so I can't jump on any of the deals going on for these cameras at the moment. I'm geared towards the MX-1 at the moment, but I'll be more than happy with any Q set you have as long as you have a normal length prime or the wide zoom available for it. Much appreciated friends!

Pentax K-30 /w Extra batteries Asking Price
400.00 USD Item Location
La Verne, CA (United States) Item Description
Hi guys. I'm selling a Pentax K-30 I got a bit ago from the marketplace. Still in very good shape, and I never put it in any situations that would test out the weather sealing capabilities . It comes with the original box and all accessories in it except the original strap, but I am including a black rapids sling style strap. I believe that it's this one. It also comes with two extra third party batteries. The DA 35mm in the picture is not included. It's already been sold awhile back. Sorry for the confusion.
It doesn't have that many clicks on it, and I'll have get that up in awhile when I'm on my home PC. Price included shipping and paypal fees. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking! Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
lowepro slingshot 202 Asking Price
35.00 USD Item Location
La Verne (United States) Item Description
Hi guys. I'm selling a Lowepro bag I got bundled in with a camera I bought a long while back. I never used it so I figured it's about time I sell it off. They go for $99 new, and there's a couple of sells here and there for a bit under it, and I've seen it go used for $60 on Amazon. It's a good, padded case with tons of pockets if you carry a lotta glass, lenses, cards, wipes etc.
Feel free to ask if you have questions. Thanks for looking!
edit: There are newer models that have things on the side for a tripod. This version does not have that attachment on it. Thanks for the folks who PMed me and pointed this out to me! Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

In a few decades, we Pentax shooters will be in high demand as professional photographers as we'll all have extra arms and eyes to shoot photos with, and also no children distracting us from our craft as we'll all be sterile.

I'd say this is a better time than any for Pentax to get into this niche "retro" market while all the hipsters are loving on the vintage film stuff. Put a mustache and a flash that looks like a tophat on it and badabing, landslide of money.

Oh wow so edgy. It says "shut up and shoot" on it. It appeals to my rugged and rebellious personality. Will people think I'm cool if I use this? Will they? Someone tell me please. Please look at me. Please look at my pictures.

Hey guys. I'm one of the lucky few who gets the December double whammy (kids birthday + Christmas, yippee). The rest of my family has already gotten her all the dolls and whatnot she asked for this year, and I think she has plenty enough of those so I don't want to throw more on the pile haha. I was looking at tablets, but I kinda don't want her to turn into one of those zombie children that spend entire days on those things. Same thing goes for video games/consoles.
But, I do notice that when I have my camera out, she likes to grab it and run around and shoot a few of her own pictures. So, I figure why not get her one of her own?
So now I turn to you guys. I'd like to get her something like a K100d or the *ist D cameras or anything of that ilk. I'll take them with or without kit lenses. I might fathom a Q or two if any of you have a reasonable deal on that. Anything around ~$100 would suffice. Thanks!

What kind of lens do you have on it? The F pertains to the aperture, and some lenses have an "a" setting and all available apertures. If you don't have it set to "a", the camera won't know/be able to control the aperture. Or, the contact on your lens might be faulty where it meets the body of the camera.

Hey, welcome to the forum!
I met a gal who worked at a coffee shop in Danshui who had a Honeywell Pentax camera. It's nice to know there's a few more Pentax cameras hovering around there. Those are nice pictures of the country! I miss being there.

Sigma is sold. All that's left is the Pentax DA 35mm f2.4
I feel like I sold enough stuff so I'm kinda considering keeping it, maybe. So, if you do want it, get on it soon!

55-300 is sold.
I'm doing a temporary ridiculous price drop on the Sigma lens to hopefully attract you impulse LBAers as I'd like to unload these soon because I just bought some glass too haha
It's now more than $100 less than the usual going rate according to our lens database. Get it before I change my mind :)
