took the new camera to a different camera place in town & they fixed it in minutes. It was a stuck pin (as its a Ricoh mount), now just have to remove the extra pin so it doesnt happen again! And get a band to stop lens creep.
BUT still looking for a better lens :)

not a ricoh, an old Sears lens. Maybe it had a dent in the metal ring, who knows? We gave them permission to destroy the lens if need be (its seen better days & has major lens creep - wow, I am slowly learning camera language!) BUT they said its a good lens so thats a surprise. Thanks for advice!

New camera taken to shop to get old lens off - they used all their usual tricks & it still wont come off so they have had to send it away to get it off as they havent seen anything like it. Its not on properly BUT they cant put it on or get it off. Frustrating BUT typical of us to do something so stupid :)

A teleconverter sounds like a great idea (as I said - we have no idea!). Any pentax or 3rd party brands in particular (I have a k mount) are recommended? Thanks Chaos_Realm!

I am looking for a lens for our k-x camera and we have a few older 200mm & 300mm lenses BUT are looking at a 500mm (+) lens so we can get some great wildlife/nature shots for our upcoming trip to the National Parks of the USA (dont want to get too close to a bear or moose!).
We are clueless so dont quite get the whole camera language so please explain all in "normal" human language :)
We dont want one thats huge, heavy - we want one that is easy-ish to use and takes a good shot. OR even a magnifier to add onto a zoom lens. No mirror lenses as I have heard they arent very good
We have an M mount adaptor (I dont think this will help). I have seen the Sigma 150-500mm, 50-500mm, 170-500mm, 120-400mm for sale on places like BUT dont want to buy without advice as they arent cheap (and unfortunately we dont have any camera places near us that sell Pentax so I cant test them)
Thanks for any help, we are clueless. I have had 40yrs of using point & shoot cameras so I am learning SLOWLY ;)

Hi
I recently broke (accidentally) my husbands Sigma 100-300mm lens that fits on his k-x. I am after a new lens & dont want to pay a fortune when I can find brands besides Pentax or Sigma that fit. Im sure it will be cheaper to buy another lens than get it repaired so I am turning to the forum to ask advice from all the camera gurus out there!!!
Also, when we would zoom in with the Sigma, it would become very light so the pics looked over-exposed. Im not sure if that was a lens fault or how its supposed to be.
We are new to photography with this type of camera (interchangeable lens).
I have heard that Sears, Tamron, Quantaray, Tokina and other brands will fit BUT this whole K mount thing confuses me as I look at the mounts & think they all look the same :o so Im not sure if the Sears ones I am looking at on ebay wil fit
I have also bought a m42 to k mount so I can look for other lenses (hasnt yet arrived....only just got it on ebay)
I love taking photos & want to find a nice cheapish lightweight (compact!!! Well, as light & as compact as the Sigma was, its still smaller than many of the other zooms I have seen on the market) lens than can take good photos from a decent distance. And, what helps take good night shots??????
All help appreciated. My camera advisor friend died last year so I am glad I have found this site for advice
Thanks all!
