I would add that it works wonders with the FA*300mm 4.5
on a fairly sunny day I barely notice the difference with the TC on other than it being a little more awkward to walk around and shoot.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
k10 / FA 80-320 / Kit lense Asking Price
K10+Kit $275 80-320 $175 Item Location
NJ USA Item Description
K10 is in great shape however could use some cleaning/dusting. Selling due to upgrade to k7. I have enclosed a picture I took of my kitchen tile to illustrate no issue with image quality as well as a recent bird i took with the FA* 300. Looking for $275 for Kit lense and K10. Less than ~4000 photos taken. Pictures of 80-320 just taken tonight with the k10 as well
FA 80-320 4.5-5.6 is a excellent budget zoom at the long end. Looking for $175. Great image quality and length for the price. In excellent shape. Selling it due to the little use it gets with the FA* 300 I have. Was going to keep it to use on vacations as the FA* is very heavy. Pictures attached.
Any Questions let me know. Been a while since I've been on the forums, but have purchased many quality items through here including the FA* 300, and 2 amazing voightlanders. Figured I'd try to see if my equipment could go to good use. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Thanks for the comments, I rather like the middle one as well.
Frank, I definately see what you mean with the polarizer - I think I will just take it off when I try panos in the future.
I definately like the looks of these. I'll probably print one out and see how it looks. I was definately suprised out how easy the microsoft application was. Pretty effortless. Really going to try and shoot a lot more handheld panos now.

well, I got back from hawaii about 2 weeks ago.
I am testing out how well a handheld pano works with the Microsoft Live Photo stitch (free), cropped afterwards
let me know what you think
i can kinda see the effects of the circular polarizer/edges on some of the pictures, I know for next time I will shoot closer together.
Used the FA 50 1.4, with CL Polarizer
I'll post some other photos from the trip later.

I drop them in my pocket or slide them in the front pocket of the lense/camera case I have. Never really had an issue with loosing one. As they do need to go back on before I put the camera/lense away

I think you'll miss the 50mm 1.4.
It is a pretty small lense, and fast. The kit lense, fankly, is pretty terrible to use in doors. The wide angle in this aspect is 5, maybe 10 steps back. Also, the I have not used the tam zoom you mention ---
However, my initial lense set was the kit (18-55), the 50mm 1.4, and FA 80-320.
I often found my self using the 50 1.4 for shooting moving targets as even when cropped, the images were sharper than the zoom.
Also, if you want quality portriat shots - the 50 1.4 is a great way to do it on a budget. The depth of field really adds some pop/3dish look the pictures.
I actually went and got the manual focus sigma 24mm 2.8 to cover the wide angle aspect to provide superior image quality on scenic shots, as it is much better than the kit lense IQ wise. 80 dollars used from BH was a pretty good bargain. If you shoot wide angle and outdoor/lanscape stuff where everything is in focus, the auto focus won't really give you much since you can just flip the manual lense to infinity, drop it to f/8 (or shoot wide open if the lense is really good) or so and most people will have no clue you were using a manual lense, as long as it has high Image Quality/sharpness.

Not to sure, but man you must sure have some faith in Flebay to buy something something without the buyer showing pictures of the lense glass.
I would find it difficult to manually focus at 300mm, especially if the lense is fairly heavy, you have to hold the camera, then focus while trying to support the lense.... would be tough.

Well, today I got mail from Circuit City, informing me Pentax's warranty will expire in a month or two (yes my 1 year aniversary from owning the k10 is approaching).
I can pick up a Circuit City, 3 year extended warrant that on the surface appears it will cover repairs and if needed replacement of the K10 (and kit lense I guess). Price is 150 dollars. My first though is, heck I'll do it, as I doubt the K10 will ever be that cheap. Also, something will probably go wrong with it and worst comes to worst (not sure if they even carry the k10 anymore?) I'll get a refund of my purchase, or an equivalent new model to replace it. Seems like a decent deal to me.
Any thoughts?
I know full well that these warranties are mostly profit from the store side, however the odds of something going wrong with the K10d in 3 years is probably likely as I tend to use it several times a month.
Side note : Also, I am a bit hesitant as Circuit City isnt exactly the strongest retailers, the odds of it going bankrupt are definately plausable - but I doubt they'd can existing warranties in the process.

While I live in jersey, but am not really an avid yankee or met fan - like the game in general.
I was actually a little bit of a Manny fan, he was a good player (had his slacking moments) but beside from being just another great hitter on the line up he brought a lot of personality into the game, that frankly most teams dont have. Atleast while the game is going on, theres a good deal of side publicity outside of the game which is mostly crap to pay attention to (ie Madona?/affairs, steroids etc).
I'd always get a good laugh watching ESPN highlights of manny going into the green monster to get a snack or two, make a phone call or who knows what else through the windows of the monster. Also, if he misdives for a ball and looks like a goof, after trying to dive and stumble on it a second time (the play a few weeks ago) he laughs about it. The average player would probably start cursing or slam their hat on the ground, or flat out just not care/indifferent. Manny brought personality into the game that makes watching it much more interesting, without really hurting the team. -- Yes he may not run some ground balls out, but he is far from the only one, I'd estimate 20-30% of people who hit balls to the infield, especially pitcher or second base will rarely run full speed to first. If its a really terrible through, your going to make it on the error anyway, its not like manny has blazing speed where he'd make it to first if he grounded to second if the first baseman bobbled the throw or dropped it anyway, hed still get out after they recovered the bobble or drop. Also, he's not a stellar inshape (muscle yes, general fitness no) where hes going to last the whole game sprinting to every ball in the outfield. Just not the kinda player he is. Your average skinny/athletic outfield wouldnt be able to put up the offensive numbers he can, but they would be more defensive.
Just my manny rant. Wish he went to the mets - would have been fun to catch a few games and still see him in the news. But one can only imagine what manny in hollywood will bring the press.
On the side not, the astros tend to have a history of people staying with the franchise, Biggio was great, think he has a house in the town near me actually. Hasn't lance berkman played there a while too?

can you post the original so we have a comparison to judge your conversion?
If the original is a bit washed out color wise, it may not lead to a great B/W shot.
High contrast shots, make great b/w conversions as a general rule of thumb, or so I believe.

very nice - I like the open field for the glow event. I recently went to one in NJ, however, left before the glow event - after seeing these I might stay for it next year :-).
The last picture is very nice

Figured I'd post a few from the NJ balloon festival a week or so ago. All in all the day was fun, however the balloon flights were limited in numbers and duration due to the moderate wind. Also, for those attending these, I would recommend the morning launches as it appears the dusk provided me some difficulty shooting as the sun was behind the balloons, forcing me to set the K10 to overexpose by 1-2 stops inorder to get detail out of the people and front right side of the balloons. The sky was rather gray/overcast, the overexposure really killed what little cloudes you could see. I ordered a UV & polarizer for the 24/50mm lenses I have and the 300 FA* after this event as even the normal shooting during the day the haze in the air and other elements were really visible, hoping they will be useful when I go to hawaii in a week.
Also, if you like shooting people/families this event would be a perfect place for you. As there are tons of people. I did notice on guy walking around shooting people, didnt seem to be with press or anything, seemed kinda creepy as he was using what looked to be a 300-400 canon zoom on a monopod and was shooting from a distance. Also, if you want practice with a long lense (all shots were hand held) this is good event for that as well.
this was as we were leaving, soom balloons (due to wind) couldn't take off/inflate fully. they usually hold concerts (some disney people, so its kid friendly, I was just there for the balloons)

good to see everyone was relaxed.
I am a bit curious about that first shot, that ladder and setting looks far from the cleanest position for the bride to be in with the white dress - most brides would be extremely hesitant about getting it dirty, good to hear it went ok.

nice advice on the crop it makes a difference. Also, you might want to edit the color/white balance. I find it helpful to do this as the real color of the car was probably a bit redder and brighter. Looks like Pat did this. Youll notice the reflection off the bumper makes the sky actually look bluer with the clouds a bit whiter.

agree on the darkness/contrast - you loose the foliage detail on the b/w converion.

decided to go with the multicoated rodenstock, got the UV and the circ polarizer, ill let you know how I like them, also ordered a non MC Hoya 49mm to fit the 24mm and the 50mm i have.
the 67mm for the 300 FA* will also fit the DA*50-135 which is on my shopping list, so I can see some dual usage out of the filters which will be nice.

just a question, the picture looks a little odd
did you edit this at all out of curiousity, it looks like a pretty solid line from the foreground of the body of the duck to the back of the head/wing area. At first glance I would guess you might have froze it with a flash just due to the color/light difference on the body of the bird in focus, but it seems to be a really harsh line from analyzing it further?
I like the first picture better as well, the out of focus duck takes away from the image in my opinion. I like the in line with the water level effect, nicely done.
