Mine fell off too during the first weeks of ownership :( . Returned it to amazon.com and got a different k-5. So far so good - but very disappointed that I have to be worried in the back of my mind that this may happen again after seeing this post just now with more stories of this.

K200D to K-5. Keeping K200D as backup/secondary. So far fairly happy with the change as it is a BIG change difference in terms of price and features. Just a bit cautious with new K-5 as the first one I got a few weeks ago - the lens release button came off. Returned and got another one.

Relatively new K-5 owner - so far no stains like these on mine. my camera SN is 400XXXX build date 2011-02-19

After 1 week and second outing with Pentax k-5 the lense release button fell off! :(
Tried to put back on but does not stay on. - Returning to Amazon.com
