K5 31Lmt 2.8 5sec exposure ISO 80

I think one of the funnest things about photography is playing with time...
Didn't figure she would stay still as long into the photo as she did...lol.
She's not too happy with the cold weather coming our way.

I've only had my K5 for a few months now and aspire to grace this post; which helped me decide for the prime over a zoom, with some shots soon as I get some real time with this lens. Though I think it may be some time I.E. practice with photography in general before I feel up to the level of most of these. Still you got to start somewhere...So for now here's one of my first shots with the 31 last night.

...and this shot from the back door tonight...

Keep up the awesome visions all.

Hi all, newbi here, have K5 as my first Dslr, with the kit 18-55 as it was all I could afford at the time.

Pretty new to it all, but was not very impressed with IQ I was getting so I tried adjusting for the back focusing, but still kinda soft results, untill I found a lesson on sharpening with PS that I find helps alot.
Still it would be nice for sharper images to start with.

Reading these forums I wonder if I just got a bad copy of the 18-55 ,,, hard for me to know, so I started saving for a better lens.

I paint for fun, just love the way light plays with things. I got the camera as a way to capture those scenes I find exciting and want to paint later on, but don't always have time to sit and sketch.

So color rendition is high on my lens need list.
The K5's ISO performance makes aperture speed negotiable, tho being able to play with bokkeh may be fun.
I shoot mostly landscape and street right now but light and shadow on anything attracts me.
I.E. Everything and anything is a possible subject.

So next week I'll finally have enough money for the 31mm limited, yeah!!!
I figured why not start with one of the best.

Been setting my zoom on that focal length my last two outings and find it works 90% of the time for what I see. The other 8% is wider.
And with the recent buy out happening soon I figured I should grab the 31mm before the prices go up.
It will be at least another year before I can afford any more camera equipment.

Problem is that B & H are out of stock, got the K5 from them and am quite happy with their service.

Do you think I should get on the waiting list for one from B & H, or try Adorama which have it in stock. Has anyone dealt with them, are they OK?

Or should I go for the Da 35mm/2.8 marco, close enough in focal length to the 31 with close focusing; and either the Sigma 10-20 , Tammy 10-24, or Da 15mm as I think I will eventually want to go wider.

Thanks in advance for any input and I apologize for taking so long to get to the point.

Walking the dogs this morning I came to find this stand of trees just as the sun broke from the clouds for a minute or so.

Pretty new to digital, have had my K-5 for about a month now.
Last night had it set up taking pics on the timer.
Turned the camera off and went to bed.
This morning I grabbed it to shoot and everything seemed fine, till i got home to check them out.
After putting the memory card into the computer, the file for the forth had pics, but the file for the fifth was empty, nothing of what I had shot had been saved. (Bummer really as a nice heron was in bright sun today,,,urgh)

So I put the card in the camera and took a few quick pics, they were there to review untill I turned the camera off and they disappeared.
So after emptying the card onto the computer I took a few more and these have been saved.

Any thoughts...should I have started a new folder this morning?

Still some weeks of saving to go yet, but after much inner debate I've decided to go for a new K5....

I have some 30 year old Nikkor glass that had me heading in that direction, but have opted for the road less traveled mainly because of the in-camera stability.

Of coarse it will take me years to get all those fast limited primes I'd like, but hey isn't that what our tax refunds are for anyways...lol.

So hello and keep shooting...
