Thanks for the info Ron i will check out these lenses. What i would like to do is take shots of the engine compartment , interior etc as well as the sides and 3/4 shots as a hobby.

I am looking for a used battery grip for my k10d . Also i would like to know if the battery from the camera will work with the grip and if it does not where do i get one.
I would also like to start taking pics at car shows with a fisheye lense can i use the ones that go on the end of my lenses or buy one that is a lense all by itself. one last lense question , what lense would also be good for up close shots at car shows i have the kit lense for my k10 d .

Ok guys thanks for all the input and info, so i am not going to try to change her mind anymore its a waste of my time and energy. So she looking at a Nikon d3100factory demo package with a 18-55 lense and also a 55-200 lense from cameta for 620.00 . Any opinions good or bad please.

Hey we are dealing with a very independant teenager here i failed to say that and she has done her research , i thought the same thing as well sharing lenses and such and she will most likely get better at the whole picture thing and teach me a trick or two, just wondering if the Nikon has anti shake and the whole dust removal system offered by Pentax.

Ok so my daughter wants to get into digital slr but wants a Nikon , i have a k10 just wanted to know what is close to this in the Nikon line have seen a few used local a d80 and a few d70s . What should i pay for these .

does it matter how many clicks are on a k10d when
you are buying a used one? Are there things that wear on the inside of the camera?
Sounds like a stupid quetion i know but just wanted to know

Good day gents,
So i go to amazon to order my magic lantern book for my k10d , why is it like more than double in price than all the other editions for for other pentax cameras, any one got and idea where else i can get one or have a use nice one they want to sell?

Hey thanks for the info Burt , the lenses are brand new they just bought the camera and would like to by a 40mm lense to replace the two for sale. I am into the car show scence and would like to use the 18-55 lense for up close pics and the 300 mm for the race track. The current af 300 mm lense is great for the track as in quarter mile, now would the 55 end of the 300 be able to use at a show better than my 100-300 is now?

I have been playing with my new k10 d with my old manual lenses and a af 100-300 things are going ok pics are good , i found a pair of lenses in a local paper that someone has for sale they are the kit lenses for a kx the 18-55 and a 55 -300 he wants 225 for both wondering if this is a good deal as i was looking into the 18-55 af on amazon and finding it would be about 125 just for the one lense.Any thoughts?

IS TH 18-55 PENTAX LENS AN AUTO FOCUS LENSE AND IS THIS GOOD LENSE FOR UP CLOSE FOR CAR SHOWS ETC FOR MY K10D AS AND ENTRY LEVEL LENSE TO GET USED TO MY NEW CAMERA OR SHOULD I PICK UP A DIFFERENT ONE?

Thanks i will try these suggestions and get more info on the lenses, now these lenses are from my 35 mm cameras a k1000 and a super program so am i correct saying they are k mount lenses?

Would it be a good idea to just buy another af lense such as the 18-55 kit lense till i get use to the camera itself the mess with my other lenses i also have an af 80-300 lense that works great.

So i finally had time to play with my new k10d with some of my old manual lenses,
after i went into the custom feature and changed a few things , they do acttually work but the shutter stays open for ever and obviously can not keep the camera still and some are blurry, so how do i close the shutter faster what am i missing?

No i am not a newbie to this i have in the past used a point and shoot digital br\efore that i used a k1000 and super program 35mm. What i would like to do is use my old lenses from these cameras on my k10d. I can get my af zoom to work fine but have had no luck with my manual lenses as of yet.

Thanks everyone for their input. So i guess i will go back and buy the camera. Saying i do decide to buy some other af lenses what would it cost for a wide angle andd just a regular lense .

So i went to look at a k10d digital slr today and brought some of my old Pentax lenses with me they consist of a smc pentax-m 1:2 50mm, smc pentax-a 50mm 1:1.7 ,smc pentax-a 1:2.8 this one mounted on the camera but it would not take a picture and last was a Quantaray 55mm af 100-300mm this lense mounted and would take a picture, and actually took a great picture. I guess the question i have to ask is will these other lenses work for me and do i have to do something different with these non af lenses when i mount them to the camera such as a manual setting on the camera itself.
