The former capital of Taiwan, Tainan has many many temples. It was reasonably warm, but windy this evening. I didn't bring my tripod from the hotel, so this is handheld at 1.3s. I love the colours but also the contrast between the static and the lanterns being blown by the wind.

Mate, you're a nice guy so you want to solve things. On a forum it's as rare as hens teeth that there are as few people thinking they are at an airport and feel the need to announce their departure, as there are in this thread. There's a risk in any forum of people doing that, yet it happens very rarely here. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. It's a very harmonious thread where people have learned a lot from each other, let's not encourage action that would threaten that.
This thread is a rare gem. A thread on a photographic forum that isn't pixel peeping and playing spec sheet top trumps.

If the discussion had been along the lines of "oh my Fuji takes images that are so much better than my Pentax did" then I would get the other side of the argument. It has never been like that at any point, and that is what makes this thread so special. it's about the images. Yes we've had little discussions about processing styles when changing camera, and I suspect that my images are still more velvia style than they were when I was shooting Pentax. But the essential part of this thread is that it is a community of photographers where hardware is not the be-all and end all. I've met one or two people that have contributed in these posts on this mammoth thread, and I'd like to meet more. I reckon we could easily enjoy a meet-up somewhere and chew the fat, shoot some photos and hang out over a beer or three. That's what makes this thread so special.
There are no fanboys here. Just images. That is as perfect as it can get. Let's not try and fix what isn't broken.

That's genuinely a pity. You produce lovely images, there really is no need to waltz off. The convention of using all Medium Format on this thread has been in place for ten years longer than you've been a member. Without it there would not have been some incredible images from fantastic photographers. The biggest issue is Pentax's failure thus far to produce a successor to the 645Z. A similar camera with the Sony built 100mp sensor would have been a stonking camera. I only jumped ship because there didn't seem to be any hope of a successor.

Some from a trip to Mumbles with my 4 year old son...

3. We took a trip on the Ferris Wheel that has been newly installed by Mumbles Pier. I called it the Big Wheel and my son corrected me saying, "Silly Daddy, it's a Ferris Wheel". The windows were filthy so I shot at f/1.7 and focussed on the outcrops. I have a similar shot taken with the Leica Q2 which is in the Full Frame thread... Mumbles Head by singingsnapper, on Flickr

Mumbles Head from the new Ferris Wheel. I shot through glass that was filthy. The advantage of a lens that is f/1.7 at maximum aperture is that you can shoot it and not show the dirt...

If you look at the original poster, they changed the titles to include ALL medium format, click the arrows and the note is at the bottom of the post.. "Last edited by Nesster; 01-20-10 at 11:55 AM. Reason: title to include all MF"
This forum would be a lot poorer if other brands were excluded since Pentax don't appear to be making any more medium format cameras. It would die through being obsolete.
It has been a convention to post any medium format images here regardless of brand. This thread would quietly die, which would be a pity as there is some fantastic photography being showcased by those using third party. This convention has been in place for more than ten years before you joined the forum.

Feel free to post some images for some positivity rather than the opposite, perhaps ;)
