Sitting behind the 'Cat hole' in the screen door we have a little mommacoon that comes a few times a day for feed we put out.
Used one of my K-r's, an adapter and an old 105mm, f/2.4, 6X7 lens

Can't sleep, So why not play with some lenses.
Here is a shot made with a FA100 Macro lens compared to the same shot (cropped/resized) with a P645 300mm zoom plus a 645 2X and an adapter on my K3ii.

5 inches away vs 5 feet away.

Darn, forgot that f/11 with the 2X is really f/22. Should have opened up a little.

The last pic before I lost the light.
Had to go to f/2.8, 1/80" and ISO 1000.
Didn't cut the flash down (from the right) and that side came out a little hot.
Depth of field wasn't deep enough @ 2.8 to get the tail in sharp focus.

Little feller does look happy though :)

Still in 'Learn' mode with this K3ii and various lenses.
This one was shot in manual with a broken P645 150-300mm Zoom on an adapter. Optics appear perfect, just no autofocus.
Got it really cheap and I can't use autofocus with this one anyway.
Set lens to f/8, kicked up the ISO1600 and added a fill flash at about 25% from the left. I need to get another so I can fill from both sides as needed.
Still don't think it's as sharp as my DA*50-135, but I was shooting at 300mm.

Cropped a little. Added some PP fill from the right.

I've only had (the Flashpoint version) for a couple of days and used with the radio.

My K3ii doesn't have a popup and I haven't tried it with another camera yet.

Seems well made and consistent.

Shot with a P645 150-300mm zoom on an adapter to my K-3ii, on a tripod.

Slight breeze caused some fuzzyness, maybe, but still doesn't seem to be quite as sharp as my DA* lenses.
Should have cut off the dead petals.

This is an older photo taken with my K-r.

It was taken @100mm either with my DAL Kit lens or a FA100-300 (the only two 100mm lenses I owned at the time).
Taken at night handheld with the wife holding a flashlight.
I used 35mm film based exposure experience before I fully understood the ISO capabilities and Shake Reduction available with the K-r.

Could have gone up in ISO and had more range with exposure but 1/400 @ f/8 and ISO 200 just seemed right.

I also need to spend more time learning PP.
Comments on processing techniques I could have used are welcome.

I used PS Elements 8
I wonder if in camera highlight compensation would have helped?

Original image with distractions and saturation speckles

This is my latest. Sort of half way between original and an overly flat PP image.

This one was taken with a FA100mm Macro on a $10 K-r (or maybe the $20 one??)

Bought broken ones from closed up shop.
No Flash, or no audio, etc., but most of them worked otherwise :)
Image cropped.

I'm an amateur that's been shooting since my teen days, starting with a M/S 1000DTL, and a garage darkroom.

The FREE Digital film is just so easy.

My first and only DSLR is a K-r.
Bought a new one years ago which now has a scratch on the LCD cover glass, then 4 "broken ones" from ebay with the thought of replacing the cover glass.
Prices ranged from $5 to $20, returns with problems.

One has no Audio, one no Flash, one has a stuck AF/AE button, and the other has the clack clack board issue.
Instead of opening them up to fix I just use the ones that work. The Clacker has most of the parts I would need.

Keep a long lens on one, a kit lens on another, etc.
Tried 6X7 lenses adapted to the K mount.with a 165mm being sharp as a tack, even mounted in reverse :)

Then I got into bridge cameras. The equivalent of a ton of lenses in one package.
Really convenient, but some loss in image quality.
FZ20, FZ28, FZ70, and my latest, a used FZ80.
Pretty neat camera, but I still love the K-r.

One interest is Free Range Macros.
Insects, birds, and Flowers (for the wife).
So, after searching Pentax lens reviews I bought a FA 100mm F/2.8 Macro from Japan.
Wow.

And a AF 2X TC which ain't worth the trouble with LONG lenses but seems to work with the 100mm
(giving me a 300mm equiv) another Wow :)

It's been a while since I posted any pics here, I'll try.
I can also try a link to a hosting site, if that's OK? Exif data in link.

The old K-r still lives.
