Nice shots, having shot butterflies myself under the Florida summer sun I'm betting you too are a perspiring photographer.

I bought the K-5 late winter/early spring 2012 by the price had dropped to around $1000. And I do agree by shortly probably not before the end of this year, spring of next year sounds about right.

I just want to point out that with the recent price drop of the K-3, though its probably obvious to a lot of us, that something new is certainly on the way soon. When the price of the K-5 dropped--that is when I bought mine--it wasn't but a few months later that the K-5ii and K-5iiS came out. As tempted as I am to buy a K-3, particularly with the extras that Adorama and B&H are offering along with it, I think I shall bide my time and see what that next thing will be. Hopefully it will be a full frame DSLR or at least, having experienced the dreaded mirror flap issue myself, an improved version of the K-3 (now flap free!).

I've been really wanting to upgrade to the K-3 when I'm ready but with a strong possibility of Pentax/Ricoh introducing a full format DSLR to their lineup I am willing to hold out for that, particularly since I own enough full frame lenses it would be great to use them to their full potential. Image my 28mm actually working as a wide angle lens.

Just as moving up from the KX to the K5 was inevitable for me, so it is that Pentax will come out with a full frame DSLR, and I also predict that just as the K5 and later models have proven competitive with Canon and Nikon's best DX cameras the soon to come Pentax FF will play on the same field with it's Canon and Nikon and other guys counterparts. And when they do my K-5 (to which I affectionately refer to as "Betsy") will make a fine back up to the K-whatever-they-wanna-call-it.
