It does it whenever I'm in live view. The mode doesn't matter. I'm looking into getting it repaired.

That is exactly what is happening with my camera. Damn. Guess it's going to cost me a bit more than $400...

Yes, it will shake sometimes if I lay it still. Right now, it's on the carpet next to me, the motor sound and the shaking going off a few times a second.

Also, I'm finding that the shaking will stop if I hold the camera sideways, with the top of the camera pointing toward the left.

Hey there!

I just got a Pentax K-X today from someone on craigslist ($400, real cheap). The camera seemed to be working fine as I was going over it, but stupidly, I didn't spend the time to go over absolutely everything and now I'm wondering if I'm screwed or if there is a way to fix it. There seems to be a problem with viewing things with live mode on. The image shakes significantly. Like the image will jump, mostly horizontally, one way and then back. You can hear it too, with each quick whirring sound corresponding to a shake. It seems to only do it when the camera is moving, but it doesn't do all the time and I'm not sure what kind of movement sets it off. I made sure to turn off shake reduction for both camera and movie modes, but the shaking persists. Changing the ISO does nothing, nor does changing the aperture or shutter speed. I upgraded the firmware to the latest version and no change. It's literally impossible to take a picture when it's shaking like this. And while I would be fine with just using the viewfinder, I I think I would have really liked to use the movie mode, and there doesn't seem to be a way to shoot a movie without using the live view.

It's my first DSLR. I was really excited, but now I'm just frustrated. Can anyone help?
