I haven't put a roll in as I didn't want to burn up a roll.
Is there any way to trick it into thinking it has a roll in?
Thanks

I posted about a week ago about how I was having problems with my new to me 645.
I now have new batteries in the handle and the CR1220 in the base of the camera.
It seems to do more things but it still doesn't do what it's supposed to.
Do these need to be flashed or have their memories reset in some way? I've followed the manual but I've had no luck.
What I guess I need is someone local to me in Burbank Calif. to either show how to set this up correctly or recommend a tech in the area that can give the camera a once over for me and figure out what's wrong.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Eric

By the way. What are the symptoms of a dead memory battery. ( the one that goes under the screw on cover in the bottom of the camera)?
Thanks

I swapped out the ones in the pack and low and behold it made the LED work and the LCD button no longer kills the LCD screen.
but the light meter doesn't seem to work.
I will go over the manual once again and figure it all out.
Thanks

They all test out at 1.53 or more volts. What should the battery pack output total?
Thanks

The fact that pushing the LCD illuminate button causes my LCD to go away and no LED in the viewfinder make me think there is some sort of electronic fault.
Any way to get to the bottom of this?
Thanks

I have the back on but no film in the camera.
The manual says I should be able to actuate the shutter with the back off.
Is this not the case?
I've tried it but nothing happens.
Thanks

I have a new to me Pentax 645 (early model) and it has a few issues I was hoping you all could help me with.
1. The meter display in the viewfinder doesn't work.
2. If I push the LED button nothing happens.
3 if I push the LCD button I lose the LCD display altogether and it won't come back until I remove and replace the batteries.
I realize that the camera doesn't function as it should until it has a roll of film loaded.
Is there a way to trick it into thinking it does? I'd hate to burn up my only roll of Tri-X sorting this out.
Thanks
Eric

I didn't post this in trouble shooting as I didn't know if this new to me 645 is acting normally or not. Please let me know if I need to post elsewhere.
Anyway this is what is going on:
I realize some of the functions of the camera don't work until there is a roll of film in the camera but I don't think this is the problem.
1. No meter in the viewfinder.
2. Pushing the LED button nothing happens.
3. If I push the LED illumination button the LCD to the right of the viewfinder goes blank and doesn't come back until I remove and replace the batteries. turning the camera off then on has no effect.
Is there a way to "trick the camera into thinking it has a roll of film in it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
