A Murder of Crows, A Butterfly's Shadow

I'm not sure about the aperture - the SMC DA 18-55 works extremely well for distance shots on full auto mode. Not so good for macro shots, or close-ups that requre a longer exposure time. I am going to invest in a Pentax digital macro lens for my butterfly and other entomological projects - problem is, THAT lens (the one I want, anyway) costs as much as the K7 did!

So the crow picture is right out on my property, below the shadow of South Mountain in Washington, County, MD

The butterfly is a Northern Crescent, and while I think this month's contest has a sort of "haloween" theme going on (shadows???) there ARE a few shadows there. The 18-55mm actually did a good job on this little guy because I switched to manual for that one.

Hi everybody!

I've been enjoying my K7 for about seven months now, mostly in A (green) mode. I came back to Pentax for my first DSLR because I started many years ago with my trusty, all-manual K1000SE film SLR, which I love.

Looking forward to sharing tips and tricks with all of you!

Frank
