My aim was to photograph birds, but the flooded stream looked interesting, so this is what I got at 170mm.

The excitement of my first glimpse of the Treasury (Al Khaznak) as I came to the end of the al-Siq at Petra, Jordan. This amazing structure was carved from the solid rock face during the first century AD.

I came across this quaint cameo in the town Montagu, when stopping for breakfast at a local hotel.

The life of a garden snail is very precarious because of it's sensitivity to the environment and the fragility of its shell and body.

Stunning camera, and I like the red. My wife was doing a rave about its quality, when compared with her DSLR camera. Would love to surprise her with this one.

This is my kind of recreation............getting out in a 4x4 and going where the road or the lack of a road takes me and my wife.
Stopping for coffee on a chilly morning on the Naude's Neck Pass, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Sanctuaries play their part in conservation and let you get "close up and personal" with the animals, but I still prefer to see them running wild and free.
My departure from the cheetah enclosure was somewhat delayed as I was not inclined to press that button - they i turn were watching a warthog (not visible) running free on the other side of the fence. (Kragga Kamma Game Park)

Snow does not feature at all where I live in Port Elizabeth, but it does fall on ocassionally in winter in the hinterland, when a good cold front hits South Africa.
The family happened to plan a road trip after a snowfall , earlier this year and went up the Swartberg Pass near Oudtshoorn to check it out.
Being complete novices we did not realise the extent to which cars lose their traction in snow and ice, so this was about as good as it got before we had to extricate ourselves from a tricky situation and reverse down the hill.
