couldn't agree with you more.
guess it applies to how one wants to use their camera.
I, for one, usually use it for portraits, thus the GPS tracker, and the star trail features are used, maybe once a year, if that?
though, for what its worth, i think the K1 is probably the most versatile camera out there with features that apply to landscapes, architecture, portrait, travel, documentary, fashion etc styles. Maybe not the BEST option in all categories, but certainly can hold its own and is very capable of great things.
oh how i love my k1

just received a 35lbs dumbbell.
I was feeling bad ordering it from amazon, as the delivery people who drop it off, they may not be strong enough to pick it up.
Not saying they are weak, but if you pick it up at the wrong angle, there goes your back. I highly doubt companies like Amazon would pay their employees sick leave while they nurse their back.
sadly, as i suspected, it was a lady, maybe in her 50's? she was struggling with it. I ran out the door to help her out.

dont blame you, Nova Scotia is beautiful. Between Peggy's Cove, Cabot Trail, Lunenburg etc, just to name a few...
by comparison, here in Ontario, we have to drive for days to find something interesting -.-
its odd. in UK, we can drive coast to coast (east to west) in about 3 hours. With in those 3 hours, we drive though so much history, and so many things to see/explore.
In Ontario, 3 hours are we are still in the same city, mostly.

even though i love the 77, the 85 would get my vote.
Sure, the 85 is bigger, heavier, more expensive, etc. However, the image quality more than makes up for it. the bokeh is better, the 3D pop is better, the subject separation is better, low light situations are better.
the 77 gets the job done about 90% of the time, and i wont really be able to tell them apart. However, the small 10% that shows the difference, REALLY makes it obvious (to me) which is the 85 and the 77.
id always go for the 85. the 77 can be a nice traveling lens if you must.

thats actually a great advice. Though depends on the circumstances, a camera may be necessary too.
but yes, focus on relationships, and if everyone is okay with the camera, then great!

haha, from a technical perspective, my auto-horizon correction on my pentax K1 is spectacular. When shooting my Sony A7RII, or my friends Canon cameras, that auto horizon correction really irritates me.
sure, it can be fixed post process, but if its a tight shot, then that isn't an option any more.
so, yes, whiskey shots would do that

I think the K1 is great as is, and the only thing i can see improving is the following:
the speed of autofocus in liveview.
while at it, i would love it if the liveview option also got eye-autofocus available.
beyond that, think the k1 is perfect as is.

curious what got you folks into the career choice that you ended up in? was it location? education? familial responsibilities? just happened to be in the right place right time?
if you could do it again, what would you rather do?
for me, i ended up in Anti Money Laundering. I ended up in it after learning about human trafficking in university, and that deeply disturbed me. I wanted to put some sort of an impact in that world, and thus aimed my goals towards it. took me a while, but i'm here.
Though, thinking it over, i forced myself into business school. Ive always excelled in arts of any sort. Now a days its photography, but art and i have always excelled. Given that art isn't as well respected, or easy to earn a living, i was forced into business school to cover it. Its 'fine' for what it is, but if i was to do it again, i would have put myself further into photography. Maybe go towards fashion or portrait, or travel photography. Even dedicate myself towards wedding photography.
curious to know how you got into your work

I have a toyota prius right now. I dont like it.
its 'gas saving' bits doesn't really apply to me as the gas saving bit only kicks in if i'm driving less than 60km an hour. I'm mostly on the highways, and hardly EVER am in the city, so that car is kind of wasted on me.
moreover, i'm coming from two mini coopers prior to the prius.
Nothing directly wrong with the prius. Its just, when i had the cooper, it wasn't just a 'car'. it had its own quirky personality, where nothing was done in a standard way. everything was 'odd' and quirky. Where as the prius, just like any other ford, mazda, honda, hyundai, lexus, BMW, etc, they all are traditional and think inside the box and play it safe. (again, nothing wrong with that). Just when you looked at the cooper, by comparison, it was as if looking at a person dressed in rainbow colored clothing in a world of black suits. dared to stick out and be 'different'.
if you cant tell, i LOVED my coopers. I only switched as maintenance on the coopers was getting a little out of hand.

for what its worth, i think you're still plenty young, and like most millennials (are you still a millennial, or would you be put in the gen-z category?), are also seeking a bigger meaning in life.
I'm 33, and it took me some 5ish years to claw my way to money laundering. Once here, i'm debating whats next. I made a 10 year goal, and i managed to complete that in 5 years. Though i'm proud of that, i dont know what i want to do beyond this role. I do want to be free, and thus, strongly debating on starting a new in the maritime provinces of Canada, and dumping all my hard work to be a corporate cog, and maybe find a more meaningful connection with earth/life/community/people/animals/universe etc.
so, the fact that you're already thinking, that shows great promise.
i dont have much of a suggestion, but that i find that you're already on the right path. ---------- Post added 04-29-21 at 07:43 AM ----------
Sadly the high bar doesn't pay as much as i would like. granted, no company pays 'enough'.

I'm rather new to the world of drinking. Personal life crashed, and i picked up drinking as a result in summer of 2020. I quickly realized that my tolerance is unusually high. What gets people drunk, is usually my starting point. 14 shots of whiskey/scotch/bobrun? sure, i'll take that. Wine, by the bottle? sure, why not. vodka? of course.
Though i quickly realized that Gin is my go-to. For whatever reason, Gin really knocks me out. My favorite gin drinks are:
Beef Eater Pink and Tonic
Bombay Sapphire Gin Negroni.
cant stand tequila, and Rum and i dont get along for some reason.
Though, because my tolerance is unusually high, i started scaring myself, and i have been dry for last few months as a result. Probably will keep it that way.
Though i still would like a negroni

yup, as a portrait photographer, the idea of Rembrandt, and Rembrandt lighting really fascinates me. and the photographers i do look upto, to a certain degree, are inspired by Rembrandt himself.
so looking at our past, to portray the future is a great way to learn.
anyways, back to the jokes:

ouch!

the vanilla variety of crown royal is smooth! goes nicely with coffee, coke, gingerale/gigerbeer, and just about anything, really.
try avoiding their maple variety. that....just doesn't agree with me one bit. super sweet

hahah! thats awesome!
it baffles me how people just dont understand photography. sure, a good camera CAN get things in focus, but the photographer is composing, directing light, directing model/subject, manipulating things accordingly...that takes more than a 'good camera'
