Yep, fantastic lens!
I've used it on weddings, landscape, city walking, portraits, and even short films. Always performs admirably.
Sometimes I'll use it after not for a couple months and get blown away by the quality all over again.

Truly sorry to hear that.
Some of my Taks have traveled thousands of miles with me, and losing them for any reason would hurt my heart. As has been said, it's not the cost of replacing them, it's the personal attachment you get to THAT lens.

I just got one of these a couple days ago, and I have to say I'm impressed! After shooting with so many different 50's, it takes me back when one can make me stop and go "ooohh".
It is..... super sharp wide open. I'd say it's as sharp as any 50 I've ever shot with.
And the bokeh is gorgeous, soft, and creamy, just as reported.
Find one, get one, enjoy one. :)
It's a jem, and probably not in super high demand.

Definitely not an 8 element if the serial starts with 22.
I've seen an 8 element that started with 157....
But, a Super Tak 50 for $47 it still pretty darn good! :)

I've had a few copies of this lens and found the blades very prone to getting oily.
The one I have now is dry and takes nice pics, though.
