Jeff, I swear I will, if I can find it.. It's from 1982-83 and donno why, is still one of my favourites.. Maybe it makes me feel thin, 'cause it is..

But it's gone, believe me..

Thanks,

I am amazed to see how almost everybody was so tendent to open a hard discussion on regional-religional issues over a tricky-jokeful pair of pics..

Gentlemen, I indeed suggest to drop this unnecessarily overgrown cultural issue in this thread and continue on photography.. Again, I am from this part of the world - tho my own country is a lot different - and I know what I am doing.. And if all Afghans who saw the pics loved the contrast in them, I do not have to feel guilty about taking, showing or posting these pics. If you wish to further talk about Turkiye, Afghanistan, their cultures and religion, let us move to the open-talk section of this forum. There I promise to answer all that will come from you..

Stewart and JC and Bono, thank you indeed for taking this thread light -as it shoul be- and for not joining the common terror created here..

Only thing I am ashamed here is that the pics were indeed snapshots. But I naively thought the trick and striking apperance of cultural differences within the pics would cover it.

But I am still wondering, tho I posted many pics by my new Pentax,as individual threads and also placed many in user gallery and gave the links to them, no one ever bothered to look at and make comment on them. Sad, it is..

Well well..

I was lately starting to fear that someone would sooner or later take this "joyful game" onto such a plateau. I still dare to call this so, because it is. It was about my wife in two outfit from two very different parts of the world. See, even some were sure that's not the same woman. You yourself admit that it's a striking pair of the pics..

And the burka itself is something special to picture and post here. The very same pics are on the wall-board in my office and even with the Afghans who come to visit me we have great fun right after they overcome the shock that I have a wife here too..:)

Another info; the percentage of the woman wearing burka here is less than 10-15 %. Those times are seemingly over and everybody is happy with that. Noone I know is proud of burka or thinks it is "sacred".

And I would never ever do or let do any irony about any diferent culture on earth, especially a country I have been living in more than a year now; and oh, there are many cultures in my country, too, and as many similiar dresses..

And we celebrated "your" thanksgiving day together with Americans, Turks and Afghans, male and female. We are ok here, no worry..

But; except some pro pics by my Pentax (will take some time tho), I will not try to create anymore joyful events, either..

Regards;

Thanks for responding and participating in this joyful game..

First of all, I have to apologize for the pics were taken by different cameras (#1 by Lumix TZ3, #2 by Konica-Minolta X2); but both for sharing something with you about where I am now, and for that I am a proud owner of a new K100DS, I took the liberty of posting these pics..

And.. Let's come to the main issue.. Both women on the pics are my one - and only - wife, who is back home in Turkey. I am a Turkish engineer temporarily working in Afghanistan and therefore seeing things from a tourist's eye-point. On a vacation, I took that local Afghan dress called "burka" home and asked her try it. So came the pic..

For my first Pentax pics, please refer to user gallery and "Afghanistan RELOADED" threads..

Thanks;

Dear Pentaxians,

- As some of you would remember, yesterday I had some uploading problems, mainly because I deleted pics in my user CP attachments to make place in the buffer for more, after they are embedded in my threads. So they were gone.. The capacity of my buffer would allow me 10 pics or so, only, but I see some posts with many more pics in, and they talk about posting even some more the same day. How?

- Can I embed the reduced sizes in my threads and link to bigger sizes of the same pics in the user gallery? Just by clicking on them as thumbnails?

- I thought the biggest size to upload was 800x600, but I see some bigger ones posted, how?

- I mostly use program AE mode "P" on my K100DS, except for special instants, but indeed cannot help wondering if it has any difference to "AUTO PIC" mode. Couldn't find a real explanation in the manual.. I see some menu items come alive, but not really about optical exposure..

- Anyone tried that simple and beautiful program called "IrfanView"? Even for Raw, it works lovely and fast. So I mostly do not tend to use SilkyPix's Pentax PhotoLab supplied with the camera or Photoshop which is still a puzzle for me..

Hey JC;

No, I do not have any limitations regarding to what I could post or how big the size would be.. But, as you would understand, there are things I do not even share with my wife back home in Turkey. So I can say I am able to classify my own pics and info..

I am working as Quality Control Manager for a Turkish construction company building a big military facility for US Army.

Pics mostly taken by kit lens, but some flowers,macros and nature pics are by TAMRON 70-300 I recently acquired. The whole set is quite new tho, so I did not have enough free time to shoot some "real" pics around the city. But you can find some more by my other camera which is a Lumix TZ3, at Flickr : Flickr: Photos from erdogani2004

Hope to chat again sometime..

Can someone please tell me what's been happening to the attached pics in my threads??

I now see two more has lost their embedded pics, too.. (After being placed in forum properly-seems like someone keeps deleting them)

Are you seeing the pics in my threads called "Pictures from Afghanistan 3 and 4"?

Grrrr again..

PS: Could it be because of my deleting the attachments buffer in my membership page, to make place, after uploading?

A Turkish Engineer in Afghanistan ...

Hi every photography lover;

Just received a K100D Super kit (18-55 mm) from USA ($499.99) and started discovering creative manual photography again. Years ago - before getting caught by automatic digitals - I used to play with my film-SLRs and even had my own darkroom (B&W).

I still remember the taste of the pics I used to take by my Zenit 122 and Minolta Maxxum SLRs I had lately, so I thought it was the time to go back to SLR again, but "digital" this time, after having reached the top of compacts with Panasonic Lumix TZ3 which I think is great for its class.

Hope to share nice pics, techniques and ideas often..

Greetings and love :p
