So .... ANVH what is a "hug mark"? Something like this:

Maybe I could loan you an "e". Would you like to buy a vowel?

"Lense" is a super "e" lens or a typo. It is a common error I make. I just noticed an "e" at the end of the word lens in the first sentence of this reply. Caught it in preview. The title doesn't show in preview. Sometimes my fingers don't pay any attention to my mind.

All,

Thanks for the replies. I had shot a few earlier with my 60-300MM and didn't notice the spots. However I just shot a few of mostly sky with the kit lens and the spots are there.

Hooray! I just need to clean the sensor.

This forum is definitely worth the dues I pay.

Thanks again,
PapaCC

I have a Vivitar Series 1 35-85MM f2.8 that I've been using on my K100D. I've recently noticed spots on the images produced by this lens. It appears to only be from this lens and only at 35mm. Well actually I've only tested it at 35 and 85 not at any intermediate settings. I've cleaned the front and rear external glass to no avail.

You can see the spots on the image below. The biggest one is about 1/3 of the way in from the right edge and about centered top to bottom. I'm thinking that I might need to get the internal glass surfaces cleaned.

I'm looking for any suggestions for further diagnostics and/or suggestions for resolving the problem. I called California Precision Service and they do not work on lenses this old. I have a request out on the internet to Precision Camera but I'm not holding out a lot of hope for that plan either. I'm including a second image below to show the consistency of the location.

Any ideas or suggestions for a repair shop or thoughts on what it might cost would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

From the kit lens:

Looks like the sensor needs cleaning. Thanks all. That was quick.

Now to go read up on sensor cleaning.....

Here is an image using the kit lens after cleaning the sensor. It took several trys to get it clean just using air but here are the results.

Thanks again to all.

Hi,

This appears to be a great place to get answers. Maybe someday I'll be able go give a few answers back.

I have been having a little trouble getting my old lenses to work with the K100D to my liking. After reading some on this forum, I decided to try again. This was with my old Tokina 60-300mm 1:4-5.6 with old Tokina doubler - F11.2@600mm effectively. Full Manual mode - no PP - converted to .jpg in the camera.
