Thanks for the compliments, snappychappy. I actually set the aperture to 20 because of two reasons:

a) it is a self-portrait so I use it as a precaution because it is hard to focus while using an infrared remote
b) I find it easier to show contrast, especially if I am not showing much colour in the shot

I have to mention that this place is a main tourist spot so there were many people walking around. I had to make the shot really fast.

hcc, sometimes I follow the "thirds" rule. Sometimes, I do not. I will have a play with the cropping later.

I actually have a version with the yellow more subdued but it is less interesting

Fries, it is not a racket. It is a garden table and yes, I put it there just to see what it will do. Apparently, snails do know how to get down and they can actually move upside down.
