try the following:
keep the switch on AF
make sure that catch in focus is selected
press the shutter FULLY down and keep ur finger on it (ie. dont let go of the shutter, just keep pressing it)
make sure that the center AF point is on something that has a texture or different colors on it (when using a manual lens the camera only uses the center AF point)
turn the focus ring SLOWLY and hopefully it should fire :)
