Downloaded Photome and checked the Mfr. date - 04/12/11 and shutter count of 1. still gotta check for "string of pearls", just updated the firmware to 1.11.

Got my K5 just now...and am really excited. The serial no. is 4045462, but how do I know its from Pentax USA? ( bought it from USA seller). Also, is there anything else I need to check?

Finally placed the order and its on the way. Talked to Pentax rep. about international warranty, and was told that it covers everything like USA warranty , but will not be able to buy the extended USA warranty if the camera is bought outside USA. Now the wait ia killing me.

Wanna buy a sd card.Can K5 take 16gb sd card?

But, again how reliable they are is something to think about. I know B&H, Adorama and other very reliable sellers, but the price difference is really high. Please share any of your or know experiences in dealing with them.

Hi All,

I am planning to buy K5 (cannot resist anymore), currently prodigital 2000 and tri-state camera have the best prices on ebay. Prodigital has the best price, with a difference of 20$. But will the warranty be valid in the U.S.? Also, I'm still concerned about the shutter problems and makes me think if I have a wait a little longer to sort out the problem. Your input is appreciated.

Helloooo,

I am in the same boat, really want to buy the K -5 (currently have K10D). Initially, I hesitated b'cse of the sensor stain and now its the shutter problems. I know not everyone has the problem, but still makes me think what if? After reading through the threads, it looks like a particular batch of the cameras are having this problem (does anyone has data regarding it?).

Ok, so I did some searching and found out the I have to buy a hot shoe pc sync adapter both for the k10d and the metz 58 flash, as neither of them have a pc connection. Am I on the right track or still missing anything? Any information will b appreciated. Also, If any of the users have a different way to connect pocket wizards and triggering the flash off camera , please share that information.

I tried connecting it with the camera and in-built card reader, but the sd card is not being recognized .
