Thanks magkelly.
As a final question then before we move on, me to improving my picture taking and you all to helping other newbies -
Which do you prefer the original one above or the one I posted in the K-r newbie thread in the link at the top which has a darker sky?
Thanks again to you all.

I think it is absolutely fantastic, i did have a very big grin on my face when I scrolled down and found that ladybird sitting on my poppy.
I do like the picture of the poppy but do agree that it is only a poppy. There is nothing there to set it apart from any other picture of just a poppy.
I have to say as a newbie to this forum and DSLR photography that I will be frequenting this forum and the critque part often as I really want to learn how to take better pictures but i also very much like the banter.
Thank you both very much.

Thankyou both for taking the time to look at my photo, i really appreciate it especially Schraubstock for making a few tweaks to my photo, much better.
I took a number of different shots of this field over a couple of different days. Some with more gate, some with less, some at different angles and some with no gate. The one I uploaded is the best as the others don't have the same impact. Although saying that i've only started to take this seriously in the last 3 weeks so still lots to learn.
I agree though Wombat that Poppies do have many connotations and have also taken a shot of one single poppy which i could display together.
Have used Pentax Digital Camera Utility to convert the RAW file and slightly tweaked to make the poppy's colour a little more vibrant but not really had much experience using this and don't really know what i'm doing yet. Not got Photoshop yet.
