Has anybody had this happen? (Runaway shutter in auto bracketing mode)

Now that you mention it, one time when I turned the camera back on, it was asking for a lens focal length (as if I had an old manual lens on). I will clean up the contacts on the lens and body.

Hi Folks,

I searched around and found lots of "mirror flop" threads, but my issue seems to be a bit different. I was wondering if anybody else has had this happen with their K-5.

I was out shooting last night, and I had my drive mode set to auto bracketing with the 2 second timer (5 shots). I was using ISO 100 and f/11 with a tripod for some longer exposures since the light was fading away. My K-5 would sometimes take more than 5 shots... sometimes 8, sometimes 10, sometimes 15, 16, etc. Twice I shut off my camera after 25-30 shots to make it stop. The camera was still changing exposure settings, but only by one increment of shutter speed. Other times it would shoot the 5 shots as I wanted. This happened in both manual and aperture-priority modes. I took out the battery and changed it, but it still happened afterwards.

I think I have described all the details. I apologize if my message is difficult to read.

Thanks for your help,
Ox

The fact that there is such excitement and desire when something like this is found goes to show how the current lens lineup is very lacking. Why don't they still sell this stuff? Better yet, why don't they put this in a weather sealed casing and sell it? If they did the same with all the limiteds, I think they would have some solid winners in their lineup.

That does look nice. I like the composition, but also found the dirt and ripples in the water distracting. Good idea!

You are right about the halo around the lighthouse. I didn't dodge or burn anything in this photo. I used silver effects pro to do the B&W conversion. I think I pushed things a little too far because after I was done, I could see the halo around the lighthouse.

Thanks for all your comments, folks.

I agree that the foreground is lacking interest, but I will explain my thought process:

When shooting this image, I was going for a square cropped photo. I fear that if I cut out the majority of the water, this would look like a "standard" Peggy's Cove shot, where as I was trying to get something different (which is hard considering how much this place is photographed).

Thanks again,
OxTron

Thanks,

The image was cropped. I have always tried to compose using the entire viewfinder, but lately I have been trying to shoot with either 4:5 (8x10 or 16x20) prints or 1:1 prints in mind. Frame selection is much better for these aspect ratios than for 2:3, but I do find it very difficult to compose for an image that I intend to crop.

Thanks to everybody for their comments.

Looking for some feedback on this shot. This is my first picture post, I'm usually just a lurker. :)

Don't hold back... let me know what is good and what is bad.

Cheers,

I bought this unit. It worked well with my k-x, but since I upgraded to the K-5, it is much more difficult to use as the TTL metering doesn't work very well.

Can anybody else confirm that this is an issue? I have no use for the GPS features, and if the firmware causes troubles, then I will avoid it.

I was hoping for a fix to the flash issues.

Hi!

I've been lurking around these forums for a couple of years, but have finally decided to join. I've had a Pentax k-x for about a year and a half, and I bought a K-5 this past weekend and I love it!

I have a sale of my k-x (along with 3 lenses) pending locally, but if that falls through, I'm going to post it for sale in the the marketplace here (my main motivation for joining the forums at this time).
