Hi Guys
Just got my 2nd p67 body. Sold my last one then regretted it! I notice a silver catch on the RHS of the body just behind the 120/220 black selector screw.
What does this do?????
Thanks
Paul

Great shot of a handsome young man! My only add would be I would have liked his hair at the front to have been in sharper focus (smaller aperture perhaps), but maybe that's just the light reflections softening it??! Other than that, it is a great portrait well captured!

Hi all, completed my first studio-style shoot yesterday. My goals were to get something sharp and interesting that looks as 'professional' as possible; at least compared to my usual shots :) I used my YN560 flash on a shoot through umbrella at 40degrees to the model. Camera was tripod mounted. Would love to know what you all think and how I can improve these types of shots, (I am thinking of booking a studio nxt time). Hi Guys,
Had this problem yesterday and wanted to run it by you all to see if there is an obvious fix/issue?!
Basically, when I pressed the shutter button, it made a sound like a slow muted shutter sound but did not take a pic. the battery indicator then said empty, the LCD said Battery Depleted, then the camera shut down.
I tried this several times with fully charged batts.
The camera would only state the battery was depleted after pressing the shutter release. Otherwise the batt indicator would show as full.
After trying everything with the settings, including restoring default settings and 'hard resets', I found that by pressing the live view button twice (first press showed a completely black screen) resolved the problem and now all is fine.
Anyone have some advice on what I should do?
Thanks
Paul

Hi all, still on the look out for a 28mm tak B. Tried a flare shot today with my SMC-M 50mm 1.7, not really flare as such, but a little bit.... Park Shoot 7 by The Paul Reid, on Flickr

Hi all, didnt win the sigma 28mm 2.8 wide I was bidding on. It went to £49 in the end so I bailed out...
Thanks for all the pics posted it really helps. I think veiling flare is preferable to coloured spots. Am on the look out for a tak bayonet 28mm. I was looking for a 135mm tak bay as they are cheap, but i want to do a lot of portrait and think a 135 would mean I would have to stand too far back...!
Anyone want to sell me a tak bay 28mm?
Thanks guys. I will defo post some flare pics when I get my flare lens :)

Hi all, thanks for the input. I have been looking at the Holga but not sure it really delivers re lens flare. Had a practice with my smc m 50mm today, managed a bit of flare but nothing to get me nursing a semi. :(
Currently bidding on a tokina 28mm in he hope of FLARE!!
It would be useful if anyone could post a flare pic, then say which lens they used. Atm people are either posting pics or suggesting lenses but no connection!
Keep em coming!
Thanks

Wow, thanks or all the feedback and pictures, you all seem to get what i am after. Will see if i can pick up some cheap UG lenses on ebay and will look into the Holga and Diana. Also i did noy know such creative lens filters existed! Interesting that sun out of frame can trigger it in some cases... I assumed the sun would have to be in shot! Will experiment today. Paul

Hi guys and gals.
I really want more lens flare, i want hazy pictures with coloured spots and burned out bits!!
I have a k5 and 18-55mm kit lens, and smc-m 50mm 1.7 and smc-m 28mm 2.
What do i need? Or is it just pure technique?
Thanks

I think that is is the challenge to the photographer to use the camera/light/environment to highlight a persons special beauty, whatever that is, and create an outcome that is more than the sum of the parts. My flickr is all the shots I am happy to show off! 97% of the people photos I take are awful! And I would never wish the subject to see them! That's why organised shoots appeal to me over candid -I can control the majority of elements and can paint on the canvas rather than colour-by-number. I also believe that photography is about practice. Every shot I take will be a tiny bit better than the last, well maybe not quite, but definitely a trend.
If you dont like taking pics of people, then dont do it. You have to enjoy your photography. But maybe a non-candid shoot would suit you? If not by design, then maybe by the fact that you are more likely to achieve a great representation of your subject?
On another point I have seen incredible woman I would love to photograph and more besides!! Some have been fat (rolling) and some have been old. But they all had something I could not place but totally captivated me. I think we all have that quality if we look hard enough :)

Hi all,
I bought a Pentax SMC-A 28mm 2.8 off eBay a few weeks ago. The lens was in great condition, but I noticed there was some slight rotational play in the focus ring before it focused, only a mm or so, I thought it would be fine.
Today, it all went wrong.the play in the focus ring has increased and it now affects the size of the aperture opening when turned too. If I shake the lens I can also hear a rattle like a small screw or ball is moving around inside.
So:
1. Can this be fixed by me? I have no lens fixing experience but do have a few screwdrivers!
2. Can this Lens be fixed by a guru on this forum? If so who is this mighty fine chap?
Thanks for tolerating my moaning!

Thanks Lauren, really kind words there. I can't deny I am a sucker for beautiful ladies...! Seems like you have set down the gauntlet there...?! An older lady...will see what I can muster. I don't now any candidates off hand but will remember this. It's sooo true that taking shots of photogenic women is a cinch, the Asian model even did everything else...! All
I had do was press the shutter. I did feel like...This is too easy. Let's see some of your shots of young guys in fields please!

Hi Lauren, thanks for taking the time to feedback on my shot :)
Lots of food for thought there. I agree with pretty much all your comments, I do need to think about "why am I there" and "what story do I want to tell". These are things I will defo be addressing in the next shoot I do. Thank you. ATM the whole flash thing is new to me so I am still grappling with it, I guess I am still trying to find my own style too, but I am sure this will come with time.
I did another similar shoot yesterday same sex meets agriculture style! Corn Shoot 1 by The Paul Reid, on Flickr
I know these shots are still a bit lacking in real cohesion, ie what would a woman be doing in a dress in a field LOL! But in time I will work on making these shots look plausible to real life.
Cheers
Paul
