It's close to square; 1.14:1. There was a distracting foreground tree to the right that I cropped out, although I like a square format from time to time.

Thanks! I was just happy to record the event, I suspect the fox just let me see him/her and was curious otherwise I would have just been oblivious.

I only ever saw this fox the one time, fortunately I had a telephoto lens on the camera at the time. This was before I figured out to shoot in AV mode with m42 lenses so it ended up being underexposed. Shortly after the picture was taken my fool dog tried to chase him, thankfully he's too slow to catch anything.

Thanks for the kind words, regarding Lightroom; I do use it to convert and organize. Most of the work on that second shot was colour balance and controlling the highlights.

I appreciate the feedback, as it turns out I have a darker background image from the original shoot with a slightly different configuration.

Careful of the Ricoh pin on the KR mount, it could lead to some tense moments if you haven't already removed it.

Walking our dog Niko in a nearby meadow, a fog began to roll in. He was apprehensive approaching a stranger, as it turns out it was another photographer capturing the weather.

Landscape The Valley of Fire

Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the processing I didn't use a polarizer. This was a 3 shot pano and I find it tough with a polarizer at 16mm to get consistent results for each shot. The RAW files looked a little flat upon conversion, so I used a curves adjustment layer. I then color balanced the sky and rocks separately to get the shot looking like I remembered, which I usually do by duplicating the layer, averaging the top layer, and then using a levels adjustment layer to calibrate to grey, then delete the average ( solid color ) layer. I then used a grad on the bottom part of the picture to draw the eye up, and cloned out an annoying picnic table on the left. My eye was so fixated on the rock I didn't even notice the table when composing! I believe the rock formation is called Skull Rock, although many formations in the area are skull like.

DA Prime focus smoothness

I have the DA 15mm and the 21mm and there is a definite difference in smoothness. The 15 is almost buttery, but the 21 has a somewhat coarser feel to it. If I put my ear to it while rotating the focuser, I can hear a light rasping noise.

From a trip to the Riverside Casino car museum. Unfortunately I had to improvise a tripod for the bumper shot as I was unable to bring one on our trip. I hadn't realized that my reflection was caught in the hubcap, standing beside my no doubt bored wife.

Thanks for the kind words. I had a terrible headcold that day and really didn't want to leave the hotel bed, but looking at the pictures from the day trip makes me glad I did. Memories of a minor illness fade, but the lost opportunity would have haunted me more.
