Hey everyone! I was shooting ultimate Frisbee, a fast paced outdoor sport, with my pentax k-x and da l 55-300. I noticed that the continuous shooting was only fast in auto picture, what's going on? I wanted to shoot in sports or shutter priority but then I could only get one or two pictures before the action was over. I have lens correction off which I heard can slow it down. Any tips/ ideas? I might be able to upload example pictures once I get home. Thanks!

ooooh okay i get it! the defender can "mark" them, so when someone catches the disc you can be as close to them as the width of the disc as you count "stall one, stall two..etc" if you get to ten before they throw it, its a turnover. if you want to know more about frisbee im sure there how to play videos on youtube!

you mostly have the basics, another important rule is "stall counts" basically, once you get the disc your defender can count to ten and if by ten you haven't thrown it to one of your teammates its a turnover and the defense becomes offense and takes possession. :)
RioRico, those are some good suggestions! i usually try to make sure its on a high shutter speed. im not sure what audiobomber was talking about, my kx has Tv mode so i can set the shutter speed, and theres a setting for continuous shooting, i just need to get a lens with a little more reach!

would the SMC Pentax-DA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 ED AL [IF] be okay for outdoor sports? specifically ultimate frisbee, taking pictures from the sideline where players can be very close or pretty far. i need the range because 18-55 isn't enough and 70-300 is too much. Im also on a limited budget, so around $300. would the tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 or sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 be better?

i was considering that, i could shell out for a DA L, but im just really unsure about it! im also worried that these lenses may turn out to not be very good and ill have to get another lens and end up paying more than if i just got a better lens in the first place

looking to get a lens sub $150. I intend to use it for amateur sports photography, just the games of family/friends. this will be mostly ultimate which is outdoors during the day, however i need it to perform in overcast as well. Id also like it if it could perform well indoors for basketball. one thing to consider is i already have 3 filters (wamr/uv/polarizer) that would fit the pentax DA. But, i'd also like to use the lens for things like going to the zoo, and the macro feature sounds fun.
alternatively you can suggest a different lens that will do the job. i would really prefer to not spend that much money, however if there is a lens that is less than $250 and will do leagues better than these lenses, then i'd rather get that.
thanks!
ps, i have a pentax k-x :)
