Another recent shot with the HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW and the 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW. Shot on a K-3. Really loving how they work together. Also, I did need to fine tune the AF ... but otherwise has been awesome right out of the box! (ISO 400, f/8, 1/1000)

Did you have to calibrate the lens at all or this is just straight out of the box? Was playing my way into work this am and it looks like I may need to do a little fiddling which is not a big deal since I calibrate all my lenses anyways ...

OMG ... I had a nightmare experience with them trying to fix my AF540FGZ II. Took over 2.5 months for parts and then just after a few uses of working great it was having the same problem again - flash not firing ... or firing when it wants. I do not trust them. Also, I never got any responses from them when asking on status. It was a giant rabbit hole that never ended.

Guessing Europe is getting it first. I ordered mine through B&H here in NYC, USA ... and still nothing, no idea when shipping. Well, good luck with it and post some photos when you get it! Can't wait to see!

Has anyone heard of any delay issues with the Pentax FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6ED? Everyone has been saying a launch in March and here it is almost May. Thoughts on if they are having any problems with build, etc? After pre-ordering I am getting a little worried that the first batch may have issues.

Is it all lenses you are having issues with? I have had that with just a few lenses - but it would show up in the dropdown to pick a lens.

I am having the same problem with mine. Still "just" under the year warranty, so they are saying they will replace - hopefully with not another faulty unit. It was working fine when I first got it, but lately it just works when it wants to. Even hitting the test button when lit, 3/4 of the time it will not fire. You can hear it click, but no flash discharge and the button stays lit. Really annoying. Really thinking of getting a Metz 64 though. Has anyone had any experience with them? I mainly went with Pentax because of the weather sealing ... but the Metz just has more functionality and distance.

It does extend around an extra third (maybe a little more) its "compact size". It also has a pretty long hood with a removable tab for circular polarizer access. I really love that lens.

Just pretty much agreeing with the group ...
DA*60-250 is a great lens and I use it constantly - super sharp and a perfect performer. A total recommend. For longer shots the DA*300 is my constant go to and is usually on the camera with the 1.4x teleconverter for a longer reach.

just an update to the EXIFdata ... Focal Length shows at 420.0mm ... that's due to the 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW. Of which I highly recommend! Fantastic piece of equipment for birding especially where you can never have a long enough lens.

Eastern Great Egret at the Pond in Central Park, NYC. It was an extra early morning walk to work, when I just spotted him on this high branch over the pond. I loved the background was so far away and nice and dark, which let me keep it reduced down to just the bird and this gnarly, but beautiful branch. The wind was blowing from behind him playing with his wispy feathers adding a little visual interest. I don't really know if it is my best shot or not, but it is the one that has my heart at the moment.

I was in a wine bar in NYC and it was pretty dark. It was at sunset and this beautiful purple light was coming through the window.
