I guess I took from the question this; Is Pentax going to make a macro lens that someone like me can afford? I know that many of you spend a lot of money on lenses and such and see no issue in dumping a ton of money into your equipment, I'm here to say it's just not that easy for all of us. Sure when you scale back the price you scale back the quality and no one is doubting this would happen, but not all of us can afford $300-$1000 lenses just because they meet a certain feature criteria. I chose my Pentax because it was a comparable camera to the other big names but it was well within my financial reach being the most important factor. I just think that an economy consumer line of lenses would not be that much to ask.... :o

Just finished mine. Added two screws on sides top to bottom to keep tube from crushing. Turned a balloon inside out and traced its shape onto my cardboard cutout and Elmer's glued it into place so it would stay smooth when bending box into position. Also made a bum on the bottom to take up space from where flash sits to front of the camera so it doesn't have tendency to fall downward. Bump on top is where I covered up the ends of the screws as they come out... Fun project and works great!

Brand new Pentax owner, in fact it is still in transit. I just purchased a K-x with a couple of lenses and can't wait to get going! Still beating away all of the Canon/Nikon stereotypes and explaining why I feel I made the better choice than the average kit camera!!! Woo Hoo!
