My wife and I went to a local bar just to listen to some live music Friday night. It's a small, often smoke filled place but this time a few less disappointments were inside. The band was playing an Alice In Chains song when we got there so I was hopeful at the start. See I'm one of those *******s who really does not want to hear another band playing "Brown Eyed Girl" or "You Shook Me All Night Long". Now in the two sets we heard from this band, they did play "You Shook Me All Night Long", however they did also include acceptable versions of 'Radar Love", "All Right Now", "Bark At The Moon" and their version of this one: https://youtu.be/BKz2U4fvA4U?feature=shared |

I have not been active at all on this site for several years but almost a year ago, I bought a 2018 Subaru Outback Touring. I love this thing.
I was faithfully driving our 2006 Grand Caravan, which I really did not mind. Our family had grown in ways where it was not often necessary; back then, we had two kids and two somewhat large dogs. But now we have two kids that are driving age a somewhat large dog and an ugly small dog. And besides, I just wanted an Outback.
So I drove some four cylinder models and decided I would rather have one with a six cylinder and found one to call mine. It drives and rides so nicely. Many convenient comforts in the cabin. Sometimes when we make some out of state trips in our Explorer for just a little more space, I'll even miss driving my Outback.

I was never too concerned with how the music was delivered. I have had shelf units and some component pieces in the 80's and 90's. My basement is now dedicated to my collection and has a Sanyo shelf unit. But it also has a Bluetooth dongle so if I want pure convenience of walking around the house on the main level controlling the music from my iPhone. I bought an analog to digital cd recorder in early 2000 to record vinyl and anything else to digital disc. I love that thing. A few months ago I was given an original copy of The Beatles Yesterday... And Today "butcher cover" in just horrible condition. Horrible. But I recorded it to cd just for the fun of it.
I have a fairly large collection of vinyl, cds, and miserable cassettes which I sadly do not exercise all that often anymore but I have a large chunk of it on a variety of iPods and iPhones. I do listen to the music for several hours on most days, it's just that now the music is delivered through Bluetooth speakers while working or driving my car. My Outback has a cd player which I do listen to and greatly prefer over just music on a thumb drive but again, I mostly connect my iPhone and iPod filled with albums from my collection I've downloaded to iTunes.
As I say, I have a respectable collection of music and also use Spotify. Call me what you want but on smart tv's and tablets, even with a free account on Spotify, you can listen to entire albums in original form, with annoying commercials of course. I never listen to radio these days.

Gilmour's About Face 1984 tour was my first concert of choice. There were a few concerts my parents had taken us along to see. But, June 11, 1984, an evening with a few friends and "the guitarist from Pink Floyd"... Fantastic!

Heck, for $10, I'm not sure this qualifies as CBA. No Pentaxian could pass on a deal such as this!

I'm a huge fan of Jeff Beck, also. With contributions from Jeff on Box of Frogs and his album Flash, these were some of his first albums I bought when I was younger and then I went back to his older stuff to continue expanding my collection.

Yes. That entire album is a great example of their harmonies and lyrics. One of my favorites from 1989.
I'm revisiting Pat Benatar's library today having just finished listening to her first four albums.

I listened to some of this album much earlier today and it's not bad.
Ultimately, it made me really miss the early years of Stone Temple Pilots. Even Velvet Revolver was pretty good.

Recently I was walking around taking pictures of my daughter playing softball when I man stopped me: "Excuse me. What kind of camera is that?" I held up my K10 with a battery grip and Pentax neck strap and replied, "It's a Pentax.
Now, I admit I do not possess the patience required to have also told him its probably 15 years old and does not accept text messages.

I recently had a brief run of bad luck which brought about damage to a K10, a K20, and a K5. These events did help bring me back to the forum after being away for sometime. The K5 survived but I did end up buying a used K10 from a member here as well as another K10 and a K20 from KEH.

My K7 crapped out on me before 100,000 shutter count. If I remember it was only in the high 80,000. My first K10 made it just beyond 100,000.
I do agree that the K7 resolved some images through some lenses better than the K10. I could see an improvement in some lenses with the K7 while others seem nice with the K10.
I remember when I started using the digital filters built in the software of the K7. I really liked the instant, in camera treatments with the monochrome "infrared" filter and the filter to remove certain colors from the image. I don't like to fuss with images a lot in post production flow so the in camera filters were fun sometimes for instant gratification.
Today, I do own a K5 but I do have fond memories of using a K7.

Painfully void of any Decemberists albums but Fever To Tell has a few tracks good enough.
Band of Skulls or Rival Sons could be on your list if you give them a chance.

I just heard something the other day about Mick Jagger saying The Rolling Stones will no longer play "Brown Sugar" in concerts. And now the terrorists have won.
Here a little bit of my mental disorder. Last year my laptop dumped many of my music files from iTunes. Like, the programing could not find the path to the file folders and a large amount of the music I had ripped from discs to iTunes was not accessible. My remedy was to buy a new laptop and rebuild the library. Like some guys rebuild the car motors or remodel their kitchens, well I reorganize and rip music files from cds and hard drives and sort of stroke my collection. So also, as a result, I'm going through my vinyl records and compact discs and challenging myself to pick my favorite five albums from each year, beginning with the year I was born. I post this shit on Facebook and have brief discussions with friends of course. Anyway, I started the five favorite albums released in year XXXX several months ago and am currently bragging about the year 2000. My five favorite albums released in 2000. So I recall a few albums released in a particular year, and I will confirm the release date of some albums one way or another and narrow my list down to just five for a real challenge. I don't dare order the five releases, I just believe these five are better than the others. Then to make my end of the year summary on Spotify a little different this year, I go back and listen to those five albums plus five runner ups albums released in that given year. My pace is about three different years per week.
Which means today I listened to Mer De Noms-A Perfect Circle, Standing On The Shoulders of Giants-Oasis, Live At The Greek-Jimmy Page & The Black Crows, Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live-Pink Floyd, Live-Alice In Chains, and Warning-Green Day.
