I have the same issue. Fairly loud hiss with muffled audio. When I turn the sound recording off in video settings - the recording is silent. So I think it is the mic picking it up/ or producing it....
Anyone able to help ???
I have recorded video before with no problems. There have been no updates (e.g.firmware) applied in between videos and I am using the same lens and SD card....

OK here goes - I will try to explain how to get your YN560 to work when mounted on your K5, if you are suffering from this freeze/lockup issue.
My fix is to connect a ceramic capacitor in series on the red wire inside the YN560 flash unit.
1. Select a capacitor that will still allow your YN560 to fire - the easy way to do this is to turn your YN560 on, let it charge up, then trial your capacitor by touching the legs to the base plate and the centre pin on the base of the flash as indicated in the following picture. If the flash fires OK at a reasonable rate (touch legs on and off) then that capacitor should be OK. In my case the capacitor is 25V 0.1MF.
2. Remove the base of the YN560 by unscrewing the 4 screws as indicated in the picture above
3. Take note of how this plug is inserted (picture below) - then un-plug it. The base is now easier to work with.
4. Un-solder the red wire and solder it to one leg of your capacitor - the other leg of the capacitor goes where the red wire was.
5. Make sure that nothing is going to short out. Re-assemble the base and test your YN560 mounted on your K5.
Hope this helps :)

Hi,
I have just bought 2 of these YN-560's and they both freeze up on my K5.
I did find that I could repeat the freeze off camera as well - when you short the centre pin and the metal base plate, the flash will fire - if you keep it shorted the flash locks up.
So there must be a compatibility issue with the K5 flash trigger circuit.
What I have done to get the flash to work is taken the base off the flash (four philips head screws in base) and wired a capacitor in series with the red wire going to the centre pin of the base plate. Of course this will void your warranty, but I personally do not value a return to China warranty very highly.
The flash works fine now - however burst is still a problem, but that's OK in my situation.
Hope this info helps someone out - PM me if you need more info :D

Hi All,
I am new to the forum - although I did use it in my Pentax research beforehand.
I am new to DSLR photography - moving up from Panasonic FZ-30.
I am new to Pentax - purchased a K-5 and very happy with it.
I live in Cooma, Australia - equal distance from Canberra, the Snowy Mountains, and the beach.
I hope to learn from others in the forums and hopefuly help others out as my experience grows :)
Looking forward to submitting some shots for Pentax Day 18 June 2011 !!!
