i think there's something wrong with my 16-50mm. i dropped the lens and the zoom ring stopped working one day. the next day, it started working again. after this incident, i don't have any more problems as described in the original post. oh well...

yup i'm using 1.11. since i'm going on a trip tomorrow, for now, i'll just have to go through the rituals to get sdm working. or not using ogps with 16-50mm. but it's so convenient to have the gps data automatically recorded ;)

at first i thought my 3yr old da* 16-50mm is having the infamous sdm drive problem, then i figured out when i use it with ogps1 in the hot shoe (doesn't have to be on), the sdm on the lens doesn't work (manual works). now i can duplicate the problem without fail. all my screw drive lens work fine. i don't have any other sdm lens to check further. anyone else having the same problem? hard to imagine why.
edit: sometimes, if i remove the ogps-1 and use it for a while, then put the ogps back, sdm works again. hit and miss though.

Thinking about converting my k10d to shoot infrared. Not sure if I want to do that myself. Any shop around Los Angeles doing that? Thanks.
