When in Rome, do as the Romans. When in Venice, start by learning the name: Venezia.;)
I was threre in '17, and brought my K-1 with the FA 28-105, the 31 Ltd, the DFA 100 and an old M 200. I used the 28-105 most of the time. For special occasions I mounted the 31 or the 100. I never used the 200. I got what I wanted. But I did not spend much time inside churches. Hours of queuing on the Piazza San Marco did not appeal to me. Instead, I was up early and came home late. That is when you get the keepers. And remember that every second year there is the Biennale; the city is full of art exibitions. That gave me far more than any church. But that's me.
Sandy gave you an idea about what will function through his excellent samples. The 16-45 will give you most of what you want, and will probably sit on the camera for the most of your visit. But: if you suddenly find that 45 is far too short, you would never forgive yourself if you didn't bring anything longer. And if the 55-300 is what you have, then bring it! And that will be what you need. The M-42 55 for low light situations, perhaps. It doesn't take much place, nor add much weight.
Remember one thing about the 16-45: It extends towards the wide angle side, and compresses towards the tele side. Unlike most other zoom lenses. That means that if you use the built-in flash on wide angle side, there will be very annoying shadows in the foreground. But you would probably know that already.
So, pick up what you find useful from all the good advices you've got in this thread, and have a good journey!

By a certain degree, by moving sideways, you will also move the parts of the landscape.
Anyway, we have the tools, and by reading articles like this one, we may be better at using them. More like this in 2024, please!
A Happy New Year to all Pentaxians!

You are right, S2 (Super) had a green R phase. But it's the shape of the aperture actuator that decides if you can use the 50/1,4 lens, not the colour of the R.
And they came with the very high serial numbers, around 1.700xxx.
Besides, the series from S2 to SV contained some transition models. 1/1000 or 1/500 shutters, notch for light meter, shape of the winding lever with self-zeroing frame counter, back door opener, focusing screen, shape of the aperture actuator, brightness in viewer. These functions were connected to certain models, but there are examples of functions found on models where they shouldn't be. Some of these deviations came from the factory, some came from repairs or services done later. So, the terrain doesn't always follow the map.
Anyway, thanks for pointing things out, and thanks to the OP for asking, be it Pantax or Pentax.

Just a comment concerning the red R on the rewind knob. It is important to note that ALL S2/H2/SB-models had the red R. In fact, the red R came with the Asahi Pentax in 1957 and followed on the S, K and S2 variants. The green R came with the S3 and continued on the first series of SV and S1a models. On SV, the change back to red R came from around sr.nr. 830xxx. ( there is a sample numbered 829xxx with green R and a 833xxx with red R.) On S1a, the change back to red R happened around sr.nr. 650 000.
On the Super S2 in question, one should look for 7-digit serial numbers, around 1 700xxx, as the one presented here.
So, do not try to mount a Super Takumar 50/1,4 lens on any S2/H2/SB camera just because it has the red R.
By the way, some 50.000 of the S2 Super were produced for the Japanese market. The total production of pre-Spotmatic models, from AP to SV, was around 1.250.000 cameras. Pentax was the early motor in the evolution of the pentaprism-SLR in Japan back then.
