Macro question

Macro is such a wide area that the answer to your question is impossible. What are you going to photograp? Extreme, flowers, insects to 1:1, product,....

For the macro lens I would spent up to 200 €, and I would spent other money for other equipment. I would not even buy dedicated macro flash units because it costs a lot and it gives you very flat results and if you go too close it throws you shadows.

I love extreme macro, and here are 3 samples with lenses that not costs al lot (photos are not croped in order to achieve magnification):

By and good luck with selection.

Ah, do not worry my two "frends", if I had only five lenses I would not even have myself for Pentax fanatic;).

Few of many more boxes that will find new owner

And by the way, I do not hate Pentax, I love it, Pentax is fantastic, I do not say that is however worse than the rest of other manufacturers out there, just do not feel the Ricoh, that is all, so please do not turn my words around.

Ah, Ricoh it's still there, no matter what you do. Red rings on the lenses, no more SMC, Ricoh in the back, for me, the king is dead and there is no more Pentax.

I was looking forward K3 and I was 99% sure that I will buy it first day when it comes on local shelves.

After I saw the packaging and the back, after that I am 100% that I do not want it. On the contrary, I started selling all my equipment, I'll just keep K7, 2 LX (and some more film bodys), K24mm, one 35mm (do not know yet which), A50 f1.2 (maybe two, they are my favourite lenses) for 77Ltd I do not know yet, one of 100 macro, A300 f4 and K500 f4.5 and some small equipment. Between me and Ricoh there simply no passion.

After that I am going to change the system, so RIP Pentax, it was honor and pleasure to ride with you, goodbye and good luck to you Ricoh and hello Can/Nik.

Here is my small comparison between Pentax A 50 1.2/1.4/1.7/2.0

center -center
rob - edge

Need some time to load photos, photos are switching automatically (depends of your Internet speed)

For me Pentax 50mm f1.2 is the KING

Yes, i did not think about one light, I have in mind black background that your eyes don`t see;).

On many ring flashes you can adjust the ratio between left and right side, but I hate them too.

I use two Pentax 540 flashes. and they are fantastic. But here is one more thing. If you compensate natural light and flash light you shoot at max 1/180, if you use just flash light (that is much stronger than natural light) your time depends on the duration of the flash, which is much less than 1/180, so result is much sharper and 100% not shaken shot.

With one flash you get very strong shadows and very dark background, which I doubt your eyes see ;)

Rather say, each previous is worse than the next, no matter if it is 1st or you already make them 100000. Once you think you are good, there is no more progress ;).

I have both too, and the difference between these two lenses is more than obvious. So listen LBA, LBA never lies :).

Otherwise, if you have a fast moving pets (I have a ferret) is making in focus shot with my k7 and FA 77 Ltd mission impossible.Maybe when he sleeping, eating or marking his favorite rock ;).

On Pentax M/A bellows unit I use my k7 without any problems. You have to remove battery grip and you have to have the lens with the aperture ring so that you can close aperture.
