my LBA is getting stronger
and it is the SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Limited Macro that is calling me
why, well I have this gap between my Kino Precision Japan Kiron 28mm F2 MC P/KA and my best in its class SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS
simply inexcusable and intolerable to have such a gap I know ;)

I wouldn’t worry about getting something too advanced. They all have ‘simple mode’, and you can grow into the rest.
The models you’ve mentioned are all APS-C ones, so I’d be more worried about the shift in field of view from whatever film SLR you had into the digital world. That’s not to say it’s unworkable, it’s just weird (and see the contortions some of us have gone through to figure it out...)
Any reasonably recent camera will be a decent start, though I’d budget for a wide to normal zoom (16-85?) as well as the 77...
Good luck!

I went with the K-70 and am VERY happy with it. As many have said before you get a lot of bang for your buck. Since you have a 100mm here's a recent shot with my D FA 100mm Macro WR. At f/5 so had plenty of room to decrease DOF. Even in this harsh light this camera lens combo captured the petal details pretty good I think. |

If you have larger hands, I would opt for a K3 or K3ii. One can be had used reasonable, the other can still be found new. Neither had an aperture block failure as some of the entry level cameras did.

No, I havenʻt but I would not hesitate buying from them because:
a) 90 day warranty and a 3-day inspection period for you to return the lens no questions asked.
b) They have an excellent reputation and want to keep it that way. They are professionals.
c) As the same folks that founded LensRentals, they know how to inspect, evaluate, clean, and repair lenses if and when required.
Lots of people would never buy a rental lens and I understand the reasons and the fear. However, I have, for example, bought two used low mileage rental cars from Hertz and both, knock on wood, have been trouble-free for the last 3 years. Hertz (Enterprise too) doesnʻt want problems, so they will dump their worst rentals into auctions for dealerships and used car dealers. The cars have been inspected and maintained constantly. And....they come with a 12-month, 12k mile warranty. You also can drive it home for 24 hours so you can take it to your own mechanic for inspection and to "sleep on it".
The same is true with buying a used lens from a lens rental company. Ultimately it will come down to you in those first three days to test the lens. No doubt there will be stories of lemons, but I would trust them more than a pawn shop, an eBay flipper, or most individuals who either donʻt know what they are selling or do and wonʻt reveal the flaws.
No need to pull the trigger. Just use your mouse or touchscreen.:D

I have added Pentax DA 35mm f/2.8 macro limited as the 4th item for sale. Both Tamron zoom lenses are FF lenses that should work well with K-1.
More shots of gear on sale can be seen in my 2018 Gear Planning album in flickr
Thanks,
Hin

I finally made the decision to sell all my Nikon gear last week and return to Pentax. A couple of years ago I saw that Fry's carried the K-7 in their stores. I went on line and checked the stores in my area to see if they stocked the K-5. Bingo! They had one left in stock and held it for me (you can bet I got there quick lol). I bought a used Pentax M 28mm to play with until I could find a limited lens to buy used locally. That same weekend, I found a listing in the Market Place from a Pentaxian, who lives in my area, who had an FA 43mm LTD lens for sale. I had a K-7 before I switched to FF Nikon. I really missed the FA LTD lenses and the DA* 50-135mm. The K-5 is amazing, especially with the FA 43mm. I am so glad to be back home here where I belong.
