Has anybody migrated from Smugmug to Flickr?
If so, what was your experience like?
I really like the social aspect of Flickr, but downloading hundreds of pics from Smugmug and uploading them to Flickr will be a daunting task. I currently have the free account there and don’t want to have to pay annual subscriptions for both sites.
Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. :)

Just an update—I’m going to go ahead and have the Sigma lens fixed. As to which lens I wind up keeping, I haven’t made a definite decision yet. I know that the Sigma is a perfectly good lens, but I like the fact that the 18-135 has a wider focal length range and that it’s a good bit lighter in weight than the Sigma. I also love the rendering that the Pentax lenses give, which as good as the Sigma is, it doesn’t have. Even though it’s slower in aperture, I’m OK with running up the ISO if I need to. I’ll have some time off next week to get out and put it through it’s paces. :)

I have an older Sigma 17-70 (2nd gen) that developed some AF issues, so I sent it in to Sigma to see what the problem was and get an estimate on how much it would be to repair ($120). In the meantime, I got a sweet deal on a DA 18-135. I’m not sure as to whether it would be worth it to get the Sigma fixed or to have them send it back to me so I can sell it for parts or repair.
Thoughts? TIA! :)

I’m OK on lenses for right now, which is good because I really don’t have the money to be buying any more lenses at this point.
With that being said, if a nice sum of cash for the sole purpose of buying another lens were to fall into my lap, there would be 3 possibilities on my radar.
DA 12-24
DA 16-85 (to replace the Sigma 17-70)
DA 20-40
A girl can dream, right? :)

If I could keep only one lens that’s currently in my bag, it would have to be the Sigma 17-70. It’s the FL range that I work with most often, plus it’s close-up ability is quite handy. Granted, I wouldn’t mind having a little more range on the tele-end in the way of a 16-85 or 18-135. Life isn’t perfect so I should t expect my camera lenses to be, either. :)

Has anybody bought used lenses from Lens Authority?
Are their descriptions of condition accurate to what you actually got?
There are a couple of lenses they have that I’m really interested in and the prices are excellent. I just wanted to see if anybody else has had experience with them before pulling the trigger.
TIA! :)

The contents of my camera bag needed an overhaul, I’ve been selling a lot of things to finance that. The biggest thing I’ve sold as of late is a spinning wheel
Selling those items has allowed me to upgrade the body from K200 to. K3 and to buy a DA 55-300 HD WR.
I’ve currently got the K200 and a Sigma 18-250 on Fleabay in hopes I can get enough money to pick up a 35 macro. With that, I should be set for a while. :)

I'm trying to lighten up the camera bag a bit, so that's why I'm not considering the K3 or K3ii.
I might consider the KS2, but after having used the KS1, I'd like something a little more sturdy for a primary camera body.
I've even considered switching to the m43 system.
Would the K5 to K70 switch be worth it?
TIA! :)

It's here!
I haven't done any actual shooting yet, but I've been playing with it a bit. I think I'm going to like it a lot! I plan on getting out with it this weekend.
The color of the camera is "Cotton Linen", not quite as white as the standard white. |

The one lens that I let go that I wish I hadn't was the DA 35/2.8 macro--such a versatile walk around lens with great IQ. Maybe one day...

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the 16-85. Unless I'm shooting something really specific (distant wildlife or macro), that lens will generally stay on my camera all day when I'm traveling. It's WR too, so no worries about the rain. :)

I just pulled the trigger on a KS1 with kit lens this afternoon. Not only has my husband expressed an interest in photography, I've also been wanting another body smaller than my K5 for travel and other times where I'd rather not schlep around a bigger body. I could've afforded the KS2, but then the husband wouldn't have been able to afford to get the electric guitar he's had his eye on for a while. :D
Even if photography doesn't take with him, I'll still have a great camera!
I'm looking forward to posting the first pics here once it comes.
BTW, I got mine for $329.99 at Adorams--can't beat that with a stick!

Sigma 18-250 DC Macro lens Asking Price
195.00 USD Item Location
Gainesville, FL (United States) Item Description
This lens is in great shape, both cosmetically and functionally. There are some scuff marks on the hood from normal use. It comes with the original box, hood, front, and back caps.
Ideally, I'm looking to trade for a second body (of equivalent value to the lens) in excellent condition, as my husband has expressed an interest in photography. :D If need be, I'm willing to throw in a little extra cash to sweeten the deal. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

True. With the ability to use it in both FF and crop modes, it makes it even more versatile. In my case, I'd be more inclined to use it in FF for landscapes, macro, and architecture and in crop mode for wildlife.

I'm adding myself to the happy dance! :D
Granted, a ff camera isn't in the cards for me right now, but I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on it to see how it handles in real-life situations. Realistically, my next camera purchase will most likely be a Panasonic advanced bridge camera with 4K video for my husband to use for the video and for me to use for still as a backup to my K5 (scratching head trying to figure out where to come up with $700 for that camera vs $1800 for the K1). Besides, I'm looking to get more use out of the 16-85 and 40 ltd that I bought last summer. Why lug around the extra weight of the K1 just to use it in crop mode?
Never say never, though. :)

It is odd that it wouldn't come with a case. In the past, I bought less expensive Pentax lenses that have come with the pouches. The really sad part is that if I want a Pentax-branded pouch, then I would have to shell out $45-50. No thanks.

I checked the dimensions of both the pouch and the lens and I'm thinking you're right in that the medium size would work the best for the 16-85. With that, I'll be ordering it. :)

My ride is a silver 2014 Ford Escape. :D
I love this vehicle for a variety of practical reasons, but there is one overriding sentimental reason. I bought it a couple of months after my divorce was finalized last year: it was the first vehicle I had bought on my own since before I got married. I picked it out, test drove it, and handled the paperwork all by myself. It was a liberating experience. :)
Practically, I love how how it looks and how it drives (so smooth). Being vertically challenged, I like how it sits me up fairly high. I like that it has a rear-view camera, Bluetooth, and USB ports (I came from a 2003 Toyota Matrix, so it was a big step up in technology). When I put the back seat down, there's a crap-ton of cargo space. I like the fact that I can put stickers on the back window and not worry about a husband complaining about them. :p
There isn't really anything that I dislike about my vehicle, but I have just one minor annoyance. When I hook my phone up to the USB play music through the stereo speakers, it doesn't automatically pick up on it and I have to punch a series of buttons just to get it to work properly. It's not terribly convenient while I'm driving down the road.
All in all, I see myself keeping this vehicle for a good long time. :)

I just pulled the trigger on a 16-85 for an upcoming vacation. It'll be replacing my Sigma 17-70 (v.2) and Sigma 18-250 as my walkaround lens. The Sigmas are OK in the IQ department, but nothing to get too excited over. From everything I've seen, the 16-85 is definitely worth getting excited over. :)
