Ben -how is the new 55-300 Pentax zoom?

I briefly got the chance to play with one (I was distracted more by the 200 f2.8 and the K20d my Pentax rep had brought with him and spent most of my time with those) and from what I could tell, it's basically a slightly larger 55-200. I unfortunately didn't get to closely examine any shots taken with it, but the build quality of the lens is pretty much on par with the old 55-200, and the design of the lens its pretty much the same as well with the exception that its about an inch or inch and a half longer. The extra range on the telephoto end is definitely a plus, and from what I've been told, the image quality should be on par with with new 18-55 II and the old 55-200. It will no doubt be slightly more expensive, but if you want the 300mm range, its the best way to get it without spending a lot of money or settling for the FAJ 75-300, which is larger still with lower build quality.

New Pentax Lens Roadmap!

I too was really hoping for a more dramatic rectilinear wide angle lens. 10 or 8 would've been perfect. I understand the want for a smaller alternative to the 14/2.8, but I never found the 14 to be wide enough to be really interesting to me, especially when I already have the 16-50. 15mm on a film camera is spectacular, hopefully we'll get something equivalent on the next roadmap.
On another note, if the DA*55 really lives up to the * will certainly be replacing my FA 50/1.4, which is a gorgeous lens, but could use a bit of tweaking, especially under f/4

Pentax to show upcoming lenses at PMA, new roadmap

It is the old roadmap. DP Review just posted a short article about Pentax lenses being shown at PMA ( Pentax showcases development lenses at PMA: Digital Photography Review ) and in that they linked to the old Pentax roadmap. The OP probably assumed that it was a new roadmap when it's really just the old one. I'm sure that we'll be getting a new one soon, but it is good news that they will be showing these 3 lenses at PMA, as I'm sure they're just about ready for production.

This is good news, I'm glad the 55 is far enough along to show at PMA, hopefully it will me out soon after the other two this summer.
I thing the roadmap posted on that link is old. It still shows the 18-250 as a future lens, so hopefully they'll have a new one soon with some of the missing bit from that one filled in.

I too think that the features and abilities of the k10 would be awesome as their entry level, and my source wouldn't verify this but i expect them to take the same 10mp chip, and the same k10 processor, maybe take out the sensitivity priority modes and some of the specialized buttons, add scene modes and squish it all into a smaller body and call it the k200 or something similar, because the k10 is a bit large and intimidating to a broader consumer market.

As far as lenses, I really haven't heard much as far as firm releases, but it seems that they are for the time focusing on the lower-end consumer lenses like the 18-250, which looks and feels almost exactly like its Tamron sibling, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, and the 60-250 DA*. I haven't heard anything about the long telephoto DA* primes apart from rumors on the net that they're redesigning them with some financial help from Hoya after the less-than-perfect reception of the 16-50 and 50-135 DA*s which sounds like a reasonable assumption to me.

I can't say where I work but i have heard from a very reliable source that at PMA they will announce a body with a 14 mp chip and a more professional feature set. Whether the chip is full frame or APS-C i dont know. I also know that they will be discontinuing the k100 and the k10 will become the entry level body, ith reduced price and program biasing.
