K20D low-light performance

Thanks for everybodys respsonses, in terms of budget. I would be looking at either K20D, 40D or D200.

However the process of getting rid of my pentax gear and switching seems more trouble than its worth, so I'm not sure. Its obvious that the 40D is quicker in low-light so its probably best for me to go with a camera which best suits my application, although I'll probably keep my K100D :D

K20D low-light performance

Planning on upgrading from myK100D. However I'm stuck between the K20D and the Canon 40D.

I currently do a bit of nightclub photography, after viewing some results in terms of the AF speed of the K20D. I'm a bit concerned about how it will perform in a low-lighting situation.

Is that the reason why 95% of nightclub photographers shoot with Canon or Nikon?

(taken from the popphoto review, I know they duplicated the K10D results into their review of the K20D also).

K20D owners, have any of you shot in a low-light environment?

How does the 16-50 compare to the Tamron? Is it in a class of its own?

The 28-75 is a great lens, but its a little narrow.. Also looking for a wider lens such as the 16-50

Is it worth the wait for the Tamron 10-24? or should I just go for the Pentax 12-24?

Is there any news on release dates or prices for the tamron?

What other options do I have

Nice bokeh, like others have said, including the bottom part of the glass and maybe straighten it up a little bit?

My Tamron 28-75 f2.8 arrived in the mail yesterday (Thanks Greg!)

I read a few poor reviews and some very good reviews, this lens is exceptional for the price, quick AF, minimal hunting (a little is expected) in low-light environment, nice sharp images.

Here is a few from out and about in my garden. Taken with K100D Super

ISO 200, f/2.8, 1/350th

ISO 200, f/4, 1/180th

ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/60th

Don't mind my lack of centering lol

Considering every meet up in Sydney is dominated by Canon & Nikon, thought it might be good to organise a Sydney meetup considering there seems to be a few of us around now

What do the sydney peeps think?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest, they just suited the photos well

Opened up lightroom, pretty much desaturated all colours except for yellow, and red and just played around with the levels

Went into the Sydney City today to take a few photos of the Queen Victoria, instead I ended up wandering around The Rocks because the dock was so packed!! And they were continuously ferries and other boats blocking the photos

Anyway, this is the first real time I've gone out and taken photos outside of my house pretty much, most were taken with a FA50 lens with a Pentax K100D body, some with the kit 18-55mm lens.

Also picked up my Crumpler 6 Million Dollar bag while I was in the city verrry schnnazzy I must say.

C&C welcome :D

Sigma 28-70mm 2.8 | DG vs DF

Hello,

I'm about to purchase a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 lens.

However I'm stuck between the

28-70mm f2.8 EX DG - AU$420 shipped from B&H (costs almost $600 locally in Australia)
28-70mm f2.8 EX DF - AU$260 bought locally

What are the differences between the lens that constitutes such a price difference?

Thanks
Michael
