What a shame, I just got into shooting 400x and I really like it in my 67. When Velvia 50 goes away, I'll have to get a 645D and use the 67 for B&W only I guess.

As is often the case, it's just a matter of having the right words to search for. I found plenty of "mechanical intervalometers" but I didn't find any "wireless mechanical cable releases". :lol:

I have a feeling wireless mechanical cable releases existed at some point in human history, are there still any available? All I've been able to find are various IR devices for newer cameras. I'm looking for a device that is controlled remotely that will press my shutter button for me on my 67.
Yes I can build a mechanical one, and yes I could hack the electronic 67 shutter, but I'd rather not do either of those. For once in my life I'd rather just buy one and have my time to blow through some film.

Looking at prices for used 67 lenses over the last few months, I would guess that a lot of people are using 67 lenses on their 645Ds. The Late 55mm which used to be about $300 on KEH is now nearly $500. Wish I would have bought one a few months ago, I'll just have to suffer with my lowly 45mm and 75mm :D

My 67 has random frame spacing, but it's around 1/4". I believe that the 67II has revised (closer and more accurate) frame spacing, this allows 21 frames with 220 vs. the 20 frames the 67/6x7 give.

I suppose it's time for me to post something. How about tandem seagulls.....the third MF photo I took. I prefer the posing and expressions in my first MF photo, but there was a stupid building behind the birds. I suppose I was too enamored with the 5 pound camera to worry about composition.
Pentax 6x7, Velvia 50, 200mm lens, ~F5.6, ~250sec hand held

Thanks for the help guys! I'll go get a cable release today. I went ahead and took a shot with the MX instead. I'm aware of the battery limitations, at this point I don't plan on doing this enough to worry about it, but depending on how I like it I may have to do the mod.

I'm doing some astro photography tonight. Since I can only get one shot per night, I'm a bit miffed that I'm not "recording" anything right now! The first shot, stupid me, I forgot to move the speed from 250 to B. My fault. The second shot, I put it on B, pressed the shutter release and then attempted to move the shutter lock to "L" as I would on my MX. No dice, it does not move while the shutter button is depressed. Is there any way to lock the shutter open other than using a cable release? Should I resort to zip ties to actuate the shutter tonight?

My father bought a very early 6x7 in April and I made the mistake of visiting him and using it for a weekend. After using it, I knew I had to have one and I finally found one I like along with 45mm, 75mm, and 105mm lenses.
So far I am thrilled with it and have had a smile on my face since it showed up. Immediately it needs a wooden grip. Longer term I'm going to round out the lens collection with a 200mm for portraits and replace the microprism focusing screen with a split image/microprism screen if such a thing exists. Can anyone recommend a backpack that can take the body and 2-3 lenses?
Here it is beside my first and favorite camera.

Ben, you're a lifesaver. Somehow I didn't realize that the top was a piece of rubber. Pulling it off revealed the screw right in the place that was stuck. I have it apart, I'll take some pictures and post them after I go to the battery store!

Hi everyone,
I found a "new" battery pack M and charger so I can finally use my MX motor drive. Problem is, new means new in box from 1984. The 25 year old NiCd batteries aren't much good. The plan is to rebuild it with new batteries, but I'm having trouble getting the case apart. I don't want to break it to find out how it comes apart!
I am able to get both ends separated (the ends have snap catches), but the middle is being a real pain. Has anyone here ever disassembled one of these? Once I get it apart the batteries/wiring/soldering will be a piece of cake.

This is great, I don't think I've caused such a ruckus in a while, must be the Canon digicam I took the picture with.
Now I just need to wait for some weather warm enough to let me use it without getting frost bitten :ugh:

Bwahahaha, man, it's been a rough day, thanks for the laugh! :lol:
It was about $550, probably too much with the wobbling rear section, but it was an easy fix and the glass is flawless, so I'm happy :)

The tripod is certainly too flimsy. The gimbal head I want is a few hundred bucks, so I'm just going to make my own for a new tripod. I'm also going to build a monopod for it. :D

After FedEx irreparably damaged my 135-600mm Pentax zoom, I found this 500mm f4.5 to replace it with. When I got it, the rear section had a bit of a wobble so I disassembled it, replaced some screws and put it back together. So far so good.
I've taken a few test shots so far though I still shoot film and I don't have a neg scanner, so no test shots to post online yet. I have a friend with a DSLR and a neg scanner, so one way or another I'll get some samples. So far I'm quite impressed, it's pretty sharp at f4.5 and out of focus areas are pleasing. There is just a touch of red/pink fringing in high contrast areas, but it's pretty easy to ignore.

Forgive the spots, the monkey who processed the film didn't do a very hot job. All were shot with my MX. The first two were shot with Fuji 160C, Vivitar series 1 105mm macro.
The box was shot at 600mm on my monster zoom with Superia X-TRA 400 (Walmart) The last two were shot again with my 105mm macro, Fuji Pro 400H film.

Hello to all from the new guy, it's great to be here!
I recently purchased a Pentax 135-600mm F6.7 zoom to compliment my MX. Rather than getting here without any trouble, it was damaged in shipping (all of 200 miles) and will no longer focus to infinity. In addition the zoom is extremely tight and noisy between 250-135mm, sometimes it binds up altogether and has to be cycled back to 600mm a few times to get all the way to 135mm. The Pentax USA site says they won't work on M series lenses anymore, the Pentax UK site says they can fix it if they have parts, but I'd like to get it fixed domestically if at all possible.
Does anyone know of a particularly exceptional lens repair company? I have had several bad experiences with allegedly expert repairmen in the past, so this is quite a distressing situation to be in.
