Hey guys...i got a new camera and some new lenses just to complete my kit, and now i've realized that music is simply a hobby that i will be able to spend more time in, because photography is kind of circumstantial, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I still take some time almost everyday to edit some old photos and see if i can get a new vision on them, but i still love photography very much. When i do get chances to take photos, it's still just as much fun, but most of the time i'll be at home without anything to take pictures of, so there's where my guitars come in.

My bet is that the announcement is absolutely NOTHING. Just talking about Pixel Shift, 645z or whatever...
I really hope i'm wrong, though!

I'm not really that into video, and yes, i do think Pentax makes up for it in the still images department, but still, objectively speaking, Pentax lags behind by a fair amount when it comes to video. That's all i'm saying...

I don't think you understand what i mean by sharp video...Pentax DSLRs cant make sharp videos at all, i'm not talking about deep depth-of-field videos, not sure where you got that from...
And if you did understand what i meant, then you're wrong...DSLRs can easily do that, just not Pentax DSLRs...

That's not the point...the phone records in 4k 54mbps, and it looks amazing. The K-3 records an awful looking 1080p...filling my TV with a K-3 video makes me cringe, while the 4K recording looks pristine. I'm not talking about the lenses or the system, obviously...

Pentax kind of makes me ashamed when it comes to video...my phone takes videos that look much better than my K-3.

Hey! Topaz Labs just published my tutorial about sharpening high-iso images without increasing the noise artifacts. An Image Sharpening Trick You Must Try
I believe you will really like the technique i teach in the tutorial. Some of you may know that English is not my native language, but i decided to do a video tutorial anyway, i think it allows you to follow the technique more easily. Anyway, it's quite simple but incredibly effective!
If this gets to the front page, i'll give away a Topaz Denoise key, perhaps more, how about that?
Hope you guys enjoy it

My Sigma 18-50 2.8 arrived about 20 min ago, and i put it to some testing. It's really sharp, even at 2.8!!
Check out some 100% crops :
Later today i'm going to post some full size shots and raws.

Hey guys, i have to thank you all again for taking the time to stop by. Your messages helped a great deal, and made me excited about photography again! I got a K-3 with grip and a Sigma 18-50 2.8 here in Brazil and it also solved all my AF issues, that always bothered me so much with Pentax! I even have an exciting sharpening tutorial coming for you that will be published by Topaz Labs!
Thank you all!!

I believe there would be issues with reversing this lens. It's going to be harmful to mount such a heavy lens on its own filter thread...

Hey guys, thanks for answering! Really appreciate it.
Well, sometimes my gear disappoints me. Every year i do eight sessions of ballet photography, and i'm always getting some sequences that are out of focus, and that bothers me. Other than that, i'm not sure i have big problems with my gear, actually. I used to worry about it much more when photography was my only hobby.

Hey!
I've had photography as my main hobby for about 6 years. A year and a half ago, though, i started playing guitar, and i've already collected a bunch of gear. My girlfriend brought to my attention something that i had already noticed : i haven't been so excited about photography anymore. I still like the idea of taking photos, but i used to spend hours and hours everyday going through my old shots, editing them and all. Now i kind of lost that. I wanna try to get it back, and i believe that maybe changing my kit would help me with that.
Anyone out there experienced the same as me? I'm thinking about getting perhaps a M4/3 camera with some top-notch lenses instead of having a bunch of average and some top-notch lenses.
Well, anything you have to say would be helpful.
Thanks!

Ouch, over $2100 would be too much for me. I guess it's better to just give up? ---------- Post added 02-08-15 at 01:02 PM ---------- Now that i thought about it, i'm expecting unrealistic things...the conversion from Brazilian real to dollar is waay too high, so all i would be able to pay would be around $1400...i better look somewhere else...or maybe the K-3 would suffice my AF improvement needs?

Hey guys, how is it going?
I've been thinking about jumping ship, but the new fullframe made me kind of want to stay, even though i never really seeked a fullframe camera.
Just so i can have an idea, do you guys have any ideas of the price, something Pentax might have said that i didn't read?
Thanks

I have to thank those who understood what i meant. People got all upset like i was talking about them. If you guys don't know, i'm always defending Pentax everywhere, but i don't think the company has been making decisions that are good for their loyals costumers nor for new ones. Just like you all have the right to say good stuff about them, i thought i could say something about the company and people would understand. I'm not saying the K-S1 is useless...we'll see what Pentax makes out of that 20MP sensor and it could be pretty okay, but i believe almost every last release by Pentax has been slightly disappointing, except for the K-3, i would say. The Tamron 18-270 that they rebadged and put some nice extra hundred dollars on it is another example of that they have been doing. In my opinion, the new Pentax products are expensive and sometimes worse than what the competition is offering. DA 560 and the teleconverter are two examples of expensive products that the other companies are able to surpass.
I don't even know why i keep replying, but well...

Hi mecrox,
i won't even bother to respond the others.
I don't know why people got so upset at me, i've never been an anti-Pentax troll.
Thank you a lot for your message. About my flickr website, i'm actually slightly embarrassed by that, those are mostly old shots, but there are still some nice captures in there. I always like to experiment with new equipment and software to try to photograph things differently, my 500px webpage has some examples of that. My style is currently not really defined, but i would really like to become a tripod-mounted landscape photographer
I've decided that, for now, what i'm going to do is get myself a B&W 10 stop nd filter and possibly an IR filter as well, two inexpensive ways to expand my horizon.
Thank you for taking the time to write the message, and i guess i've learned my lesson : even people that seem really nice can get really aggressive when you say something they don't agree with. You and only few others were exceptions to that on this thread.
See you later

You know, guys...i've always considered this to be the most friendly forum i've seen, but i guess it's just a matter of saying something against Pentax that everyone starts to bash me.
I think i made some fair points, and i'm not even a Pentax hater...
What can you do...people are easily obsessed with a brand and even forget what civilized talk means.
