I'm not really that into video, and yes, i do think Pentax makes up for it in the still images department, but still, objectively speaking, Pentax lags behind by a fair amount when it comes to video. That's all i'm saying...

Hey! Topaz Labs just published my tutorial about sharpening high-iso images without increasing the noise artifacts. An Image Sharpening Trick You Must Try
I believe you will really like the technique i teach in the tutorial. Some of you may know that English is not my native language, but i decided to do a video tutorial anyway, i think it allows you to follow the technique more easily. Anyway, it's quite simple but incredibly effective!
If this gets to the front page, i'll give away a Topaz Denoise key, perhaps more, how about that?
Hope you guys enjoy it

Hey guys, i have to thank you all again for taking the time to stop by. Your messages helped a great deal, and made me excited about photography again! I got a K-3 with grip and a Sigma 18-50 2.8 here in Brazil and it also solved all my AF issues, that always bothered me so much with Pentax! I even have an exciting sharpening tutorial coming for you that will be published by Topaz Labs!
Thank you all!!

I have to thank those who understood what i meant. People got all upset like i was talking about them. If you guys don't know, i'm always defending Pentax everywhere, but i don't think the company has been making decisions that are good for their loyals costumers nor for new ones. Just like you all have the right to say good stuff about them, i thought i could say something about the company and people would understand. I'm not saying the K-S1 is useless...we'll see what Pentax makes out of that 20MP sensor and it could be pretty okay, but i believe almost every last release by Pentax has been slightly disappointing, except for the K-3, i would say. The Tamron 18-270 that they rebadged and put some nice extra hundred dollars on it is another example of that they have been doing. In my opinion, the new Pentax products are expensive and sometimes worse than what the competition is offering. DA 560 and the teleconverter are two examples of expensive products that the other companies are able to surpass.
I don't even know why i keep replying, but well...

You see a lot of "problem" threads because it makes no sense to create a thread called "My K-r doesnt have problems", and list everything that works on the camera.
Usually, when someone search for a forum is because they have problems, and want help.

Just bought one last week.
It is a very special use lens, but its really fun and worth it.
I have the Bower 8mm one, btw.
Mine is sharp at f4.5 and soft at 3.5, even after the calibration..
I'm thinking about calibrating it again, but now the screws aren't in good condition, because i used something weird to turn them. If someone could post some crops at 3.5 with it, i would appreciate it.
It is really, really, really wide...you can fit everything you could possibly want to on the picture.

I will surely be doing that. I will also be talking a lot about market possibilities in Brazil, so i'll be trying to talk on a way that i can represent the brazilian community.
Thank you :)

Talked to him today, 30 minutes call.
We talked a lot about the brazilian market and how the company intends to grow in South America, i talked about Nikon's representative company, i've been told that they're interested in bringing Pentax to Brazil, and he told me to e-mail and give him the company's contact information.
We also talked about how i got into Pentax, even though there is no support here, and i said that i read the reviews that said Pentax was a great brand, etc.
About the fullframe, he said that one of the reason why the fullframe is taking so long is that now they're cheap, and it was a sudden change. Fullframe cameras were expensive and for pros, and suddenly they became much more affordable, and they couldn't handle the price change like that, so they're trying to see what they will have to do to get a reasonably priced FF in the market.
I told him that people want a uncrippled mount, and asked him if there were any plans for that. He said he couldn't confirm it nor deny it, but they said they are creating a camera to try to please the loyal Pentax community.
We talked about the K-01 and K-30, he said that the K-01 was already finished when Ricoh assumed, and they couldn't do anything about it, but it is a nice camera. The K-30 was still being developed, but they couldn't make the engineers start from scratch, so they just tweaked it.
He told me to stay tuned this month, and he said that right after we talked about CES...maybe something products are coming?

I don't think Pentax is going to do that.
They should open the firmware for developers...it would be amazing

EV QUESTION
Because it doesn't make sense. The exposure compensation works my overexposing/underexposing the automatic controlled setting. Example :
In Av mode, you dial in +1 exposure compensation and the shutter speed will be one stop slower.
In Tv mode, you dial in +1 exposure compensation and the aperture will be one stop "more open"/brighter [i don't know the best way to say it]
In Manual mode you control everything, so what would the exposure compensation do? Nothing. DOF and longer focal lengths
It does. If you get a 200mm 2.8 and frame a person, you'll get a nice defocus.
Here, for example :
That is a picture of my aunt using my Sigma 70-200 2.8 at longest focal length and 2.8 aperture.
If i had used a 24mm f2.8 and same framing, the background wouldn't be nearly as defocused.

Well, the shutter will cry and your SD card will be filling up pretty quickly. That's it, basically.
